My LO isn't quite 2 months yet, but I use Leap Frog baby Tad a lot to keep him entertained. I had it put up because it says 6+ on the box, but I was desperate to keep him entertained one fussy day, and I pulled that out, and he was mezmorized by it. It plays music and the shapes on his stomach light up, so he watches those. After seeing how much he loved it, we started taking it everywhere with us! I just lay him on the playmat, a blanket, or in the pnp with Tad a little ways away, so he can watch the show!
Someone asked me what to get DD and I suggested toys, and she brought us a bunch of great ones! DD loves pretty much all her toys. Anything that makes noise and anything w/ a mirror is good. Any baby toy you buy is probably going to work. These are some of DD's current favorites:
--Carter's soft turtle with stuff hanging off of it and a mirror on the bottom.
--Infantino Cow Toy (fairly inexpensive, small and a big hit!)
--one of those ball things made out of flexible rubbery tubes. She likes it b/c it's small enough for her to grasp.
-- ring of different textured beads/fabric lumps, with plastic rattle ring that hangs in the middle.
--Fisher Price octopus toy that plays a little song when you pull down on the hanging red crab
Around that age I lowered all of the toys on her playmat with those plastic rings. She really liked to be able to grab them! Everyone who sees it tries to move the toys out of her face, but she likes to have them right there in her face and near her hands.

rattles, more toys you can hang from her activity mat, teether toys, stuff she can easily grasp, a mirror
