Would you have DC birthday party on your anniversary?

Our anniversary is May 31st and DD turns 3 on June 1st which is a Monday. I would love to have her birthday party on Sunday, May 31st but DH doesn't want to have it on our anniversary so we can go out to dinner by ourselves. Both Sat May 30th and June 6th will not work out for our families so we would have to wait until Sun June 7th. I feel like a week after her birthday is too long to wait to have it....what would you do? Have it May 31st and DH and I could go out for dinner on Saturday, May 30th to celebrate our anniversary or would you go out for dinner on May 31st and have the party on June 7th?

I really need to decide this so I can get things planned as it will be here before I know it!

  • I would probably have it on my anniversary.  But to make your DH happy, why not do both?  Party in the morning (we did brunch for DS's birthday party a few weeks ago), dinner in the evening.

  • I'd go out on Saturday night

  • I'd have the party Sunday, and celebrate your anniversary on Saturday night. ?I'd rather go out to dinner on a Saturday night, anyway. ?Then again, DH and I have been super lame with celebrating our anniversary the past few years. ?Last year we were packing to leave for vacation the next day, and we never actually got around to planning a nice dinner out.

  • I wouldn't have a problem having it on my anniversary, and it could happen because her bday is the day after our anniversary.  I'd just go out for dinner on Friday or Saturday night instead.

Added:  To me, it doesn't make it any less significant if it is celebrated on a different day.

  • I would have the party on the 31st and go out to dinner on the 30th.
  • I would much rather go out for dinner on a Saturday evening too! I am going to talk to DH about it again (and like pp said it doesn't make it any less special if we do not celebrate it right on the day).

I told DH when DD was born that we will run into this and there isn't anything that we can do about it!

  • Why can't you do both that day???  DC party during the day and then go out that night to celebrate your anniversary???
