Re: *August Beach Babies TGIF check-in*

  • Everything is still going fine.  I don't have any specific requests for the delivery room because it's looking like I'm going to have a c-section and I won't get that many options in that case.

  • Happy MAY!!! 3 months left..yikes! Monday will be our first link on 3rd tri!!! very exciting :)

for the QOTD, I am very OCD and particular...so unless there are any emergencies, i plan to be very vocal about how I want my birth to go. For starters, I refuse to wear a hospital gown or be in a wheelchair at any point. My arms will not in the least bit be strapped down during a c-section, unless im completely out. There are so many more things...i am a germ-a-phobe, so i dont know how im going to even get in the hospital..lol. You can imagine what im like with all this flu talk...i need medication and therapy Stick out tongue

Happy Friday! Can't believe it's finally here! Not too much news, still feeling good, Hannah is a busy little bee in my ute. Not too much else pregnancy related. I had said on Wednesday that we've decided to wait on buying a house. Well, we found out yesterday that we can stay where we are at for a few more years, which means that we don't have to move! YAY! I plan on letting the nesting bug take over me this weekend, I have so much to get done! I feel much better now & can tell that my stress level has dropped tremendously, which is good for the baby & myself.

As far as delivery room goes...I'm realistic & I know that nothing is going to go exactly the way that you plan so I don't really have anything specific. I just want to have a healthy baby &?preferably, DH NOT to pass out in there! This is the reason that my mom will be in there too.

Have a great weekend ladies, see you on Monday!!!?

  • QOTD:  I have no idea what I will ask for in the delivery room.  I haven't really given much thought to that yet, I'm just trying to make it out of the 2nd trimester first!

I found out yesterday that I'm not immune to 5th disease so I'm going to get my u/s done.  I'm not positive what exactly they are looking for but I get another glimpse of my little girl!

  • I will have a birthing plan but I think for the most part it will say what not to do!  Don't offer me drugs (as I want a natural birth), don't give the baby formula or pacifiers as I'm planning on nursing.  I plan on keeping the baby in the room.  No to the Hep B vaccine and eye drops as long as my tests for the STDs come back negative.  My husband knows what I want and he will be vocal about these things happening or not happening.

  • Happy Friday! Yesterday completely felt like Friday so I'm glad it's actually here.

I'm not sure about actual "items" I will bring or request in the hospital. I'd like my DH to bring his laptop in case I'm there for a long time. I haven't given it all that much thought yet.

Although, today is my V-day, so things just got a little more real!!

  • I'm a fairly laid back person, so I don't really have a request list at this point.  I tend to think it'll be more of an in the moment thing, where I'll say "I need this" or "I don't want that".  We'll see how I feel after I finish up some reading and the childbirth classes, and mostly how the L & D process happens to go.
  • Good morning ladies!  This will be my last check in on second trimester, I'm moving into third trimester soon (scary!).

Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room?  Privacy!!!!!

DH felt baby move this week! He was so excited.

Delivery room, DH to cut the cord, NO interns/residents or extra medial personnel (Im delivering at a teaching hopspital), breast feed right away ... thats all i can think of.

Whats this Hep B vaccine and eye drop thing?

  • Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room?

  • EDD - add me to Team Pink!  Finally able to find out!  :-)

Requests for delivery room, etc.:  hmmm...  only one I can currently think of is making sure DH is either looking elsewhere or out of the room entirely during the epidural (he has a fear of needles and this one won't help!)...  otherwise they could be busy scraping him off of the floor!

  • EDD = the 31st... Add me to Team Pink!  Finally able to find out!  :-)

  • Sorry for the multiple posts - realized first one didnt actually include EDD... maybe a request should be something like "give me whatever you've got to prevent brain cramps!"...?  ;-)
  • Everything on my front is going good right now. Other than I have been getting weird pains in my legs. Almost like my knees are water filled.

Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room?

Well considering I'm in Germany and don't know all the procedures here. I know I will tell them not to offer pain medication unless I ask for it. I want to be free to get up and move. Here they give the babies tea after they are born and I will request that they no give my little guy the tea, and no bottles unless I authorize it first. As my daughter was born not being able to suck she had to be bottle fed for a few months.

  • QOTD: I'm starting to plan out what I want for the delivery room.  I want my husband to be present at all times, including during the epidural if at all possible, I want to be as mobile as possible, and I want to be able to drink clear liquids.

The nausea has come back. Oy.

Hi hi! All fine here. Had my Big Scan on Wednesday and they have changed my dates to Sept 3rd...but I don't want to move from this check in....Can I stay, pretty please?

I have no requests for the delivery room. I'm sure all will go the same as my last two, please God!

Annie..I have OCD too and I'm a germ phobe, but it all went out the window on my last 2 births...it had to. Hospitals are gross! Smile Bring a bottle of Alchohol santiser with you.

  • Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room?

Happy 1st day of May! :) I don't really have any specific requests yet, except that shoot me up with the epidural ASAP!!! I am the biggest wimp when it comes to pain. I'm starting to freak myself out a little bit when I think about it (which I try not to do). When it comes, it'll come!! At this time I only want DH in the room with me unless my mom is in town (which I really hope she is).

So excited, I finished painting the nursery and we're going to pick up the changing table/dresser this weekend!

Have a great Friday everyone!! :)

  • I haven't gotten far enough to think delivery room yet.  I have started to debate having my mom in the room with DH and I.

Other than that ...all is good.  People are commenting that I've grown recently.  Finally have a bump that people notice..although I am getting worried about how big it still has to get :)

  • Happy Friday everyone!!

Pregnancy: everything going just fine. Nothing new happening and little man is moving around a lot. Apparently he has his days and nights mixed up right now because i feel him just a bit during the day and then come 12-1 am he throws himself a little party and keeps me up! I am tired!

QOTD: nothing too specific that is out of the norm. Just want my epidural, FI to cut the cord (and help deliver him if possible....he got to do this with DD once her head was out, the doc had him position his hands and the she put hers on top of his and he got to help pull her out with the last push) and then some quiet family/bonding time after before all the visitors come in!

    Have a great weekend!

  • Happy Friday, everyone!!!  With the exception of the slight discomfort I'm feeling as my baby kicks me in the vag, I'm feeling good and looking forward to my babymoon vacay tomorrow.

Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room?  I'm not sure. I may buy speakers for my iPod so there is music playing. Otherwise I'll figure that out after my hospital tour at the end of May.

Have a good week! I'll see you all on May 11th!

  • Good morning, and happy Friday!!

I didn't post on Wednesday, so:

Wednesday QOTD: Do you have any crazy or abnormal fears/phobias, not pg related?

Yeah, kinda... I actually have Panic Disorder, which is pretty closely associated with Agorophobia. Basically, I panic any time I feel trapped somewhere. Its happened at red lights (mostly if I am in the middle lane) on highways with no exits for a long stretch, and in classes or meetings where it would not be easy to just walk out. Luckily, I am able to control it to the point where most people don't know about it or notice.

Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room?

Not really... I am not big on birth plans, because I just feel like labor is one of those things that you really can't plan for. DH and I have discussed any decisions we may have to make, and agreed on how to handle them. This way, I dont have to worry about anything but getting through the whole process.

  • I've been feeling pretty good so far.  I'm 26 weeks today and I have an appointment, can't wait to hear the heartbeat!

QOTD:  Other than requesting no meds, I don't think I have anything on my list that's out of the ordinary.

  • Good morning ladies!! I am pretty open about how my hospital stay will go. I dont want to make demands as I know that things NEVER really go as planned. I do want as much privacy as possible. I am worried about my boyfriend puking, dry heaving, and passing out...he's got the worst gagging problems he can hardly brush his teeth without puking and EVERYTHING makes him gag...my mom also wants to be in the room but I am not sure that I want her to be. I would have never really considered myself an ultra private person and I am very close with my mom but I think that the time of the delivery should be shared with between mom/dad/ and new baby...so who knows! I have a lot to think about!
  • iluvtomiluvtom member
The delivery room I want a healthy baby in my arms and I want to feel as little pain as possible but be aware of the birth, My first daughter I was over medicated and I do not want to be in that state at this little girl's birth.
  • Drugs and limited visitors.
  • I don't have any specific requests since I'm having a c-section.  I think this time though we may have DH go with the baby instead of stay with me in recovery (I tried to get him to do that last time and he refused!)...Otherwise I don't have anything...I can't wait to eat the next day though :)
  • Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room? Noo, besides an Epi! Hopefully I won't be too late for that!

    Good Morning everyone! TGIF!

  • Monday QOTD: What is your major pregnancy complaint so far? back pain! argh! I can't get rid of it!
Wednesday QOTD: Do you have any crazy or abnormal fears/phobias, not pg related? I don't like walking over sewer covers because I'm afraid I'll fall in.
Friday QOTD: Do you have any specific things that you will request/ask for in the delivery room? I haven't even reached that point yet, mentally. :)
  • I think the only request I will make is to be able to eat food during labour.  We haven't formalized our birth plan and it's what we'll be discussing at my next midwife appt on may 12.

In other news, we've put in an application for a 2 bedroom apartment this morning, so if we are approved, we're moving the first week of June! :) Lots of packing to start doing!

Things are going pretty good here too! I have been having some menstrual type cramping but went to the OB and they said my cervix was closed and did a fetus fibro something-or-another to check for pre term labor and it came back negative. I have another appointment in 2 weeks so hopefully all will still be good.

QOTD: We have a birth plan we submitted to our OB. There is nothing really out of the ordinary on it... although he wasn't a big fan of me stating I do not want Pitocin unless necasary. He kept trying to convince me that I wouldn't even know if tehy put it in teh IV after the birth. I don't think he was getting the fact that I do not want any extra drugs put into my body even after the baby is out unless I NEED it.

Whats this Hep B vaccine and eye drop thing?

The eye drops are routinely given unless you tell them not to.  They are in case you have chlymadia or gonorrhea so the baby does not catch it.  However, you can get tested for those STDs during your pregnancy and if you're negative, you can decline the antibiotic eyedrops.  My feeling is why give the baby an antibiotic for something you know you don't have.  The Hep B vaccine is basically a vaccine for Hep B which can only be transmitted through bodily fluids, blood transfusions or drug use.  SO since I don't have Hep I don't want my child to have the vaccine.  There have been reactions to it in babies especially so young.

  • Yeah....for my husband to NOT pass out! Confused
  • Good morning ladies!  TGIF!  I can't believe it's May already!!!  Feeling good and looking forward to the weekend.

I don't have anything specifically that I can think of that I want in the delivery room besides, me, my husband and hopefully a healthy baby!

  • Yea for almost being in 3rd tri.  My LO is getting stronger and stronger.  In fact his kicks are starting to hurt a little, especially when it's right in the cervix or bladder.  I can't imagine what they'll be like in a few weeks.

QOTD:  My only request I have is I don't want a bunch of people just standing around watching me, as in family members, as far as the labor part.  And there will NOT be anyone just standing around watching while I'm delivering except my husband.

I've been in the room visiting people when I was younger (and didn't have a choice) while they were laboring.  I don't think I'll enjoy having people sit and watch me have contractions.  Maybe I'm being dumb, but I might have to be crazy b!tch pregnant lady and kick people out.

  • Last time I really had no idea what was going to happen. DH cut the cord and once baby was cleaned off they gave her to me. All of that I was totally ok with. But once I got to my room and learned that I had to share I was a little mad. And only got madder once I realized the kid next to me was never going to sleep. DD slept through it like a champ though. Thankfully the hospital we're going to this time (different insurance), they only offer private rooms. DH will even get to spend the night this time. I was so mad that they wouldn't let DH spend the night with DD and I. So a lot of my frustrations about last time have been cleared up for me.
  • bjbritbjbrit member
Only a hep lock, I don't want an IV unless it's necessary.  DH cut cord, no Hep B shot, and I'd like to breastfeed ASAP after delivery.  Oh, and I'd like them to do the apgar scoring while I'm holding her, I don't want her taken away to the nursery for that, and DH and I want to give her her first bath.
  • I've made it to double-digit days left!  Yay!  I'm excited to have less than one week until 3rd tri, also.  I keep praying that everything continues to go well with my pregnancy and baby.  I'm also loving this beach weather down here.  I can finally wear all those cute maternity sundresses that I bought from Old Navy.

QOTD:  I don't really have a "birth plan" or anything.  I am a registered nurse, so I am pretty familiar with everything that will or could go on during the delivery.  I am comfortable with just saying, "no" if there is something that I really don't want done.  I also feel comfortable requesting things that I think I need and will be able to understand medically why I can or can't have them based on staff response.  I'm not really worried about anything like that.
