RH -/+ Shot

Did anyone get a shot after their m/c to gaurd against having RH incompatibility with future pregnancies?  Unfortunately my sister just suffered an early loss this weekend and they gave her a shot, but we go to the same practice and they never mentioned this back in January.

I'm going to call them in the morning, but wanted to see what your experiences were.

well i'm Rh + so it doesn't matter.  Do you know what you are?

I had to have a Rhogam shot. You only need it if you have a certian blood type

Do you know your blood type? You only need it if you are Rh- and your DH is Rh+. I am Rh- but so is DH, so I always have to swear he's the baby daddy and refuse the shot.

Hmm, I might call them and ask them then. I know they type my blood constantly when I'm there, so they should know your blood type.

well umm then yeah, you should have gotten a shot.  the chances of transfusion from baby's blood to mom's is low.  the RhoGam shot is really just a preventative for the next pg IN CASE the bloods mixed.  you can also asked to have an antibody screen.  that can tell you if you have been sensitized from your last pg.  how many m/c's have you had?

i'm rh- and had to have the shot while in the hospital for my d&e.

I'm B- and needed the shot when I was miscarrying.

I got my shot today, because I'm O- I miscarried Sunday at 6w1d.
