What is the secret to get those window shades to stick?

Cause I can't seem to figure those stupid things out.  They are the shades for the back windows.  They have suction cups and for some reason they don't stick to my window.

I'm on my 4th different type of window shade thinking it's the shade, but this one doesn't stick either.  It's the First Years rear window shade that is long and has 3 suction cups.  I've cleaned the window, cleaned the suction cups with alcohol and moistened them slightly before hanging.  30 seconds later all the suction cups have let go.

  • The only other thing that we did was make sure the window was cool (or cold if possible) when we stuck it on.

  • This may sound gross, but I lick them then stick it on the window (I clean it first). I've had mine up for 6mos and have only had to restick it once. Also, like pp said, make sure the window is cold or cool, not warm.
  • and... if it gets hot where you live - those suckers are going to fall off all summer.
  • we can't get anything to stick to DH's car window either.  He said it was because he has after market tint on his window.  Could that be your problem?  We've tried 3 different shades also and none of them work.  We got the kind that just clingy sticks to the window.  It worked for a day and then fell.  I guess there is just not hope for poor baby's eyes in daddy's car.
