I saw a South Park episode last night where little Jimmy would get an instant erection every time he heard a bell jingle. Hilarious as a cartoon not so funny in real life (yikes I can't even imagine how weird that must be for the parents). Its weird but not to the point I wouldn't trust the guy with the kid.
I also agree that this is creepy and weird. As to erections being always sexual however, I don't think that's always the case...obviously most of the time, but there's always 'morning wood' as an example. Nothing sexual there...all men know about that.
Hopefully it is just some kind of physiological hormone triggered reaction, like the weight lifting thing that someone mentioned, and not something really scary.
I'm kinda conflicted. On the one hand - EWWWWW!!!!!!
But then what do I know about men, erections, hormone release, stress-reducing, whatever that was that the actual psychologist posted about. Obviously not all erections (including those ocurring when awake) are sexual but still....
Bottom line - just praying I don't have to deal with it.
It is actually very common to see this type of physical reaction under extreme amounts of stress. In fact, young boys who are forced to speak in public often get erections or urinate. I haven't studied many cases where an adult had these issues, but it is likely that he could have some repressed anxiety that is triggered by the cries. I wouldn't say it was anything to get all freaked out over but I would suggest therapy to find the underlying problem.

That's what I was thinking. It seems very odd for any man to get an erection over a baby crying, but I highly doubt it's a sexual. He should definitely talk to a professional about it if it keeps happening.

I don't either!
I'm with the poster who said she wouldn't have wanted to know, but...
I have heard of guys getting them b/c they were nervous-non-sex related.

Sadly, this is my thought too.
Yikes,
, why would you even admit anything like that?!?

This too. Just the thought of it is kind of disturbing.

Yup and yup.
This.
The horrifying thing is that his wife posted such a personal thing on the internet for all to see.
I very much doubt this was at all sexual. Most people with a basic understanding of hormones and physical response wouldn't be shocked by this.
wowzers....dh even says this is odd...though he does not have his own crying baby......but
...wow.
I can't even say what I honestly think about that post. It's too disturbing.
Nasty.
