Trying to Get Pregnant

ruh roh

We are having new carpet replaced in our entire house.  They started in the basement, and I just took a peak.... it does NOT look like the carpet color I picked.  It looks like it's about 1 or 2 shades darker.  It was supposed to be more white than beige.

DH is coming home to look at it now.  I swear if they are laying the wrong carpet in my house it's going to be hard to control myself.  Our furniture is smashed in every awkward space and DH already pulled up the carpet from the main floor, so the only floor that still has the old carpet is the upstairs.  The main floor is where we spend most of our time. Angry

Re: ruh roh

  • Yikes! I hope it is just your pregnancy brain and it is the right color. But then that means maybe you don't like it anymore. Damn, I'm not helping.

  • good luck...perhaps the lighting is a bit darker in the basement?? hope it works out!
  • Ugh, they brought the wrong door handles when we re-did our kitchen, but luckily they looked okay.

If it is their mistake they should fix it!

  • ruh roh is right!!
  • I could just be the light in the basement.  Def make sure they are laying the right color though before they start the rest of the house!

  • Hopefully it just looks darker because it's in the basement!
  • Oh no!!! I wouldnt be able to control myself either
  • We just finished remodeling our basement and there is really good lighting down there.  There are also 3 large windows since it's a walk out basement, so there's natural light as well.

You better believe I will have them re do the whole thing if it's wrong.  I just don't want to wait 2-3 more freaking weeks with no carpet and furniture misplaced all over the damn house.

  • If you know the name of the carpet I would ask the carpet installers what the name is that they are laying down just to be sure.
  • like paint swatches, sometimes when you pick a color from a small swatch, it looks a lot different when it's layed out over a large area.  Or sometimes the samples are a little different than what comes on the roll from being from different dye lots.  DH does flooring, so I've heard him complain about this before...

  • When we had our carpet first installed it looked a lot more brown that it was supposed to. Once we got everything set up in the room it was the right color.

Hopefully that is the case for you!

We know the name, but all the installers have is the product ID number.  Gahhhh

I had them take a strip upstairs to the living room and it looks even darker than in the basement!

First I have to say - Your ultrasound picture is one of the cutest I've seen!  Your baby is just kicked back hanging out!

And yes, we knew it would look different once it was layed out, but the carpet guy told us it would look even lighter, not darker. shiiiiit.

  • Is it really that bad??? I mean obviously you are paying for it so you don't want to settle...but, maybe it's just overwhelming b/c the furniture isn't on top of it, and the lighting is always different in your basement vs. the store.  That sucks, sorry.

edit: that sucks that it looks even darker up stairs.  yikes.  I hope if you need to have different carpet brought in, it doesn't take 2-3 weeks.

Thanks!  It's like the baby is just relaxing reading a book or something, lol, I love it!

Uh, that really stinks that it's different than what you originally wanted, maybe after all the furniture is back it will look more like the color you picked, or maybe you will just like it better...I hope that's the case!

  • Why is home improvement always a pain in the butt?!
  • Oh no, I hope that your DH agrees so that you can catch it in time. Did you pick out the carpet and look at it in the light? That's what I do everytime I have to pick out carpet because it makes a huge difference.
  • boo.. well, look at the bright side - darker carpet means less baby puke & poo stains :)
