Help-Plugged Up

My son is a month old and eats like a pig. My lactation consultant is amazed at the amount of milk he drinks. He eats more than I can produce on a given day and I can't get my milk production to increase so I have had to subsitute with formula. He was doing fine on the formula till last week when he started having issues with constipation. My dr said give him a bath, rub his belly and move his legs in a bicycle motion to stimulated a bowel movement. He said if that doesn't work give him a Glycerin Suppository.Well those work and work well but it says on the label if the problem lasts more than a week contact your dr. My question is have any of you dealt with constipation in a different way with your baby? How much did they way and how old were they? I want to help my poor son but I don't know what else to do.

I had this problem with my son for the first month I had him on formula (after I quit breastfeeding). We used prune juice, a thermometer up his bottom, and suppositories, but nothing worked to get him on track. After trying Enfamil Lipil, Enfamil Gentelease, and another kind of formula our pedi recommended Similac Advance Early Shield (I believe it will eventually replace the original Similac Advance). It has been the only formula that has not made him constipated. We noticed a complete change within a week. His sleeping habits even improved.

Ask your doc if you can put senokot granules in his bottle. ?My mom suggested this to me the other day when DD was constipated. ?She has also mentioned putting a drop or two of Karo syrup in her bottle, this I haven't tried b/c I'm worried its old school and not sure what it would do.
