Hi!! We haven't even been fitted yet - still waiting for the prescription to go through, the insurance crap, blah blah. The orthotist is supposed to call me in a week to schedule the fitting - and then I'm not sure how long it takes to get the actual helmet? We're getting a STAR band. I just found out yesterday that he needs one for sure actually - I have suspected for a while but pedi basically blew off my concerns. I saw a specialist on my own and yep - I was right.
I'm sorry you are going through the same thing. You and I can definitely compare notes (and biitch about it!!) all summer!

So good to hear from you! The orthotic doc called it a "band" too..but in my opinion it's a mini helmet
Anyway, they did a scan of his head, took measurements etc, under 6mm is considered mild, up to the high teens is moderate and above is severe. DS measured 15.9 moderate....it takes two weeks for the band to be made and we go back to check fit etc....you'll get to pick out a designer band, or solid color...I just went with white and figured we could put stickers on it etc....seeing he'll be wearing it in the summer I stayed away from a dark color.....blah, blah, blah
Let's compare notes as we go through the stages...page me when you have your appt. Best wishes and glad to not be going through this alone.
