I'm in Milwaukee and they closed schools in Chicago so it's only a matter of time. I'm pissed. We're supposed to have a birthday party here next weekend and now I don't know what to think.

Hah! I was just reading comments on an article in our local newspaper that basically said the same thing. That person claims that the goal is for a 90% reduction in population, and those of us that survive will be shuffled into concentration camps. WTF? Who the hell would this crazy conspiracy benefit?

Back to reality though - I just watched a news conference w/our governor and the head of our state health department. The kid that was dx with the swine flu was sick early last week, before we even knew of the virus, and he had gotten better and returned to school. The state decided to close that school anyway for the next 7 days. I feel a lot better after watching the press conference - I got the impression that our country is pretty well prepared for this, and there are several hundred pallets of antiviral medicine in our city being  distributed to the hospitals and pharmacies - and that's only a portion of our allocation of the federal stockpile.

I am so freaked by this..just when I started taking hte girls out too...and I'm in STL....so close to Chicago....just like Gymrat...it's just a matter of time before it gets here.

UGH and the last day of school is May 29th..seriously, I so don't want this to come here and have school closed and have to make up that time...I have VEGAS planned for our first baby get away the 2nd week in June...ugh, this sucks.

ugh.  My DH is a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools (not far from the one that closed).  We also have 1 diagnosed case in our county!  Go away swine flu!!

I think the whole thing is getting way overblown, but the people who should be worried about really is us.. our poor little fragile babies.

THIS SUCKS.

 (P.S. I LOLed at the whole reduction in population/concentration camp thing. People are very very strange.)
