I took the boys to the pedi today because they are spitting up constantly, and asked about Aiden's belly button sticking out. He said it was a slight umbilical hernia and should clear up by the age of 1. It doesn't seem to bother him when I push on it.
Does anyone have any experience with this? The pedi said not to be concerned about it, but that's my job!
Re: Umbilical hernia--anyone?
One of my twins had an umbilical hernia and it went away by the time he was 2 1/2 months. We were really concerend too because it stuck out far, about 1/2 inch, but our pedi said as long as it doesn't hurt him when you push in (which we did often to make sure it was still OK), there's nothing to be concerened about. I was a little sad when it went away b/c that's how I told them apart!!!!
No worries!!!
My DS had an unbilical hernia, and his belly button is still an outie. It used to be gross though, and really protrude a good amount (like an eyeball) right after he ate. It has gotten better, and he's had no issues from it.
HTH!
DD had one. It was huge, it looked like the size of 1/2 my thumb sticking out of her belly button. I was so scared she would have it for life, but it is a perfect little innie belly button now. It went away at oh I think like 4 months or something.
Yup! Lilly had one- her little turkey's done button. Her hernia was long gone by about 9w, maybe 10w. Totally nothing to worry about. Once their abs get stronger, they hold the hernia in.
my friends son had one and it was resolved by the time he was one. she always put his diaper over the belly button...he didn't have pain...
i personally developed one while pregnant...not problems during pregnancy but super painful afterwards...over the last week it seems to be clearing up...not as painful or as "poked out".
