yeast rash treatment?

I think my daughter may have a yeast rash.  She is very red mostly on her labia, with small red dots spreading out from there.  This is the first time she has had a rash that didn't go away within one or two diaper changes.  If it is a yeast rash (does it sound like one?) do you have any natural remedies, or should we get a prescription of nystatin?

Re: yeast rash treatment?

  • There are some over the counter yeast treatments which you can use. Not sure of them, myself.  As far as I'm aware, the only treatment for yeast is with an ointment from the drugstore.  You do have to kill it off in your diapers as well if you're using cloth.

  • poor thing!

we just went through this. We got a prescription cream - Ketoconazole. It was generic and cost like $8 I think . Then i used a drop or two of TTO in our wipe/spray solution and many drops in the laundry rinse. I used disposables until the rash was completely cleared up, then for the next week, we just used prefolds so i could bleach them and use cream with them. I'm stil using TTO in the spray and wash though now. So far so good...

  • I hate yeast....... I treated DD sparingly with an OTC yeast cream- I bought a generic form of monistat.  Also added 50 drops of grapefruit seed extract to the rinse cycle to get it off the dipes.
