Temp ? (Newb type ?)

Just a warning that this may sound like a newb type question...and it's not Tuesday. Sorry in advance.

I know the drill to temp as soon as I wake up and just record that temp and not question it - but do you really think I can do that? I always wake up with my alarm clock going off then have to roll over and grab the thermometer and temp. After I temp I usually hit snooze twice and then I've been temping before I finally roll out of bed. There is usually a .2 degree difference (97.92 vs 97.71 for example).

Do I chok this up to the idea that temps change after you have been awake or could it be that since I am always startled awake by the alarm and feel shaken, that my adrenalene is what is causing the initial rise in temps? Anyone experience this? I tried to google and search in FF but can't find anything this specific. Thanks for your opinions.

Re: Temp ? (Newb type ?)

  • My alarm goes off, I roll over hit snooze, put therm in my mouth.  I guess maybe I'm confused by your question.  I don't get out of bed right after I temp, but that doesn't make any difference in my waking time.  I always temp at 5:45 (every morning) and don't usually get out of bed until about 6:20.  As long as your temping the same time everyday and it's your waking temp they should be accurate.

  • If you are always startled by your alarm, then your all of your temps would be consistently higher when you first take them.  As long as that is the case, it seems you would still see a shift after ovulation.

    I agree with this...

  • AdamsWife: I don't get out of bed until about my third snooze.

Mrs.Mastro: I think you have a point that I forgot - as long as it's taken at the same time and with the same circumstances, it shouldn't make a difference.

For some reason after doing this a few months by brain has forgotten everything I have read.
    Thanks!!!

Do you temp right when your alarm goes off or when you get out of bed?  If you're temping when you get out of bed, I'd switch it up and temp when the alarm goes off and then go back to sleep.  Just keep the therm by your bed within arms reach.

Thanks! I do have it at arms reach and temp right when the alarm goes off and then later before I get out of bed. I think that I need to keep it consistent.
