DD was coughing in her sleep - poor little thing

I think she woke herself up b/c of it (but bonus for mommy she did sleep from 7 until 5 am!!), but it sounded like a wet cough.

I took her temperature and she was fine and once she's upright, she seems OK and was coughing much less.  I sent her to DC, but told them about the cough and the teacher said she noticed her coughing a little during the day yesterday too.  I'll probably steam her for little bit tonight (before her bath or after?) and turn the humidifier on in her room, but otherwise. .. is there anything I can do for her?

  • I am having the same problem...we ended up putting DD in her swing to get some sleep last night because every time we would lay her down she would wake up coughing...I would love other options...

  • we're going through the same thing w/DD.  I feel bad b/c there isnt anything we can do really..just the cool mist humidifier.  Dr said suction her nose & mouth to get as much of that crap out as possible.  He said to try and put her on an incline when sleeping

  • my DS is sick as well with severe congestion, cough, the whole 9 yards.. anyways we are doing nebulizer breathing treatments on him after going to the pedi yesterday but one thing i found OTC that seems to help our those vapor things you plug into the outlet - fills the room with like a vicks vapor rub smell and it really helped clear him up in addition to saline drops in his nose followed by sucking all the snot out! Good LUCK!
  • We've got the same thing going on with DS right now- his was a dry cough for a day or two, so we took him in. Pedi says just a cold, do everything you mentioned- humidifier, steamy bathroom for 20 minutes a couple times a day, saline drops and suction whatever you can get. We've got him on an incline to sleep also, and actually I've got him in his bouncer napping right now, which seems to make it easier for him to breathe.
