I just got a call back from the Drs office and the nurse wont give me blood work until MAY 11!! Seriously?! She was trying to wait until 6 weeks and when I reminded her that I didn't even make it that far the last time, she said she would bring me in "a little earlier". Four days earlier. Really?! gee. thanks.

I was hoping to be put at ease a little bit but I guess I am going to have to wait it out. I plan on POAS every day for the next week I guess. I feel like crying.

That is BS there is no way they should make you wait that long....ever concider switching offices?  Or is there a Family Practice Dr that will run them?

WHAT!  Did you talk to your dr's nurse?  Our dr said that as soon as we get the BFP to call and talk to his nurse (most others who don't know would tell us to wait until 8wks) and she'll get us in that day  I would call again and then start looking ASAP!

I went through the same thing when I was pregnant, and when I went through the miscarriage.  I knew my HCG levels on a weekly basis b/c my general practioner was willing to the do the bloodwork.  It became a little expensive but I was obsessed.

That is absolutely crazy. Why won't they do it!? When I m/c I never even had b/w done. They ER people thought I was crazy because a "Dr." never confirmed I was pregnant. I learned that for now on b/w gets done asap. I would call back and demand it!

The same thing happened with my MC. I really think I might call my regular dr and see what he says about the blood work. But I dont know what would happen if the progesterone was low. I guess I would have to call the ob again and say something.

I think you should ask to speak to your dr.  Sometimes the nurses and/or receptionists just don't understand and show no compassion.

I made a new appt with a different practice. They said I could come in tomorrow but I couldnt swing it at work. There are a ton of people on vacation right now. But. I am going in on Friday afternoon. They will confirm and then I will meet with the Dr to discuss next steps. I will get a beta yet.

My other office was just a pre-natal counseling and bw to confirm-no Dr meeting.

Exactly this.  Ask to speak to the doctor and tell him that it would make you feel better to have your betas checked and know what's going on.

Glad you were finally able to get an appointment with someone!  I can't believe the other Drs office was going to make you wait that long.  Well, good luck!  And keep POAS if you have to!!!

I'm really glad you're going to someone else. That's just about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. What kind of person takes a pg woman who is already nervous and won't even give them a little bit of hope? Ridiculous.

I think that you can pay for them out of pocket at a local lab to run your betas and you will get them back the next day.  sometimes pregnancy centers will also run them for you.  GL.

That's ridiculus.  I did have a friend with a similar situation and her primary DR ordered the labs for her instead of her OB
