Moby wrap- how big does it go?

How heavy can your kids be to use this?  I've got to come up with a solution other than the Bjorn because that's SO uncomfortable to use for flying in two weeks with my 2.5 year old and 9 month old.  I would LOVE a Beco but MH wont go for it because DS is already so old.  So, will a Moby (which is WAY cheaper) work for him or is he already too big?

Re: Moby wrap- how big does it go?

  • I am fairly sure the Beco Butterfly goes to like 45 or so pounds.  I know toddlers can go in it.  I love our's.
  • Loading the player...
  • Probably way too heavy for it. I couldn't use it past like 13-15lbs, my back was kiling me.
  • I am brand new at wearing a Moby--about  2 weeks.  (I've worn it maybe 4-5 times).  I couldn't imagine wearing my 3 year old in it right now. Maybe after more practice...

For me, tying it has been easy but the hard part is sliding a baby into it.  I think you would eventually love wearing a Moby, but if you are still new at it and are trying to maneuver through an airport with luggage, etc, you might get really frustrated and end up pulling it off, anyway.

If you want to give it a try--get one ASAP and practice getting your toddler into it A LOT before you head to the airport.

  • I'm still using it quite happily with my 16 lb (small) 7 month old.  But if the Beco is like the Ergo (I think it is) you should be able to use it for a very long time.  I used the Ergo with my older dd until she was past 2yo and almost 30 lbs.
  • Ok--totally misread--when you asked how big can you go--I was thinking you wanted the toddler in it.

I've seen 9 month old babies in a Moby.  But again--those are mom's with a lot of practice who have worked up to a 9 month old.  (They built up their back muscles as their babies gained weight).  If you are brand new at wearing it, although it will feel better than a bjorn, you probably still wouldn't be able to wear it for long term.  (Unless you start practicing now and wear it every day until you leave.)

  • Oh no... it's not for DD.  She can walk.  It's for DS who cannot even crawl.  He's 20lbs and 9 months and I'll need my hands free to haul our junk and hold DD's hand.  There's no way I'd carry her even though she's only 5lbs heavier.

  • The tag on my Moby says it will carry a child up to 35lbs.

  • I have a Moby and a Babyhawk and love both.  I think that a Babyhawk would work well for you though.  I can carry my 2.5 year old DS on my back in it easily still.  It just seems like an older, heavier baby would be more comfortable and easier to wear in the BH.
