2nd Trimester

how long do you wash in dreft?

I do plan on washing with dreft...and washing baby clothes seperate, but for how long?  Until they are a certain age or what?

  • The dreft bottle itself says 18months... not sure though how long we will use it.

  • Never. Dreft  is not good for babies. Too many chemicals. Just get a free and clear detergent like Tide or All, and use it for all the laundry forever.

    gby!

  • Dreft is fine.  So is Tide Free.

We washed Savannah's clothes that way until she was a little over a year old.

  • ok... wtf does gby mean?/

and yeah, just get any free and clear detergent.

  • You can try Dreft but many babies skin is too senstive for all the perfumes and stuff in it.

We use Tide Free and DS is about 14 months old.  I still wash his stuff in Tide Free because he has sensitive skin and its just easier to stay on top of his clothes if I keep them seperate from ours.

  • I plan to use Tide Free for all of our laundry. I haven't made the switch yet, but plan to in the next few months. I do have to admit that I am a fabric softener freak, so I have to cut back on it and stop using it. I just love the smell of snuggle cuddle fresh.

  • 1st the glitter freak needs to chill that is the most annoying siggy every.

Anyway I have been super sensitive to fragrance my whole life so we already use free and clear detergent and softener.  We will just continue with that.

gby = "god bless you"-- note next to last phrase in obnoxious siggy.

  • I use All Free & Clear now anyway because I have very sensitive skin (eczema, allergies, etc), so I will just continue using it on the baby's clothes.

  • We used All Free & Clear with DD. Worked fine with her. Dreft is a little expensive for me.

yo.mama - That siggy is seriously too much for your 6 weeks.

I'm 6 weeks plus a baby, and this is some seriously moldy old news.

    gby!

  • I've heard that Dreft was just a marketing gimmic and not worth the extra $$$.  I haven't looked too much into it, but we'll likely skip the Dreft.

  • I used Dreft pre-baby and now that DS is one I'm shifting over to using the Free & Clear detergents that I use for DH and myself to save some $$. The Dreft smells SO good that I'll be sad to see it go. I'll probably use that or something similar in the fall for the next baby's clothes. The Dreft stain remover does wonders for baby poop stains, a bit better than Shout for breastfed baby messes.
  • I use All Free & Clear now, so except for diapers that will get washed seperately, LO's clothes will go in with ours.  I don't use fabric softener or any other additives, so I'm not worried about it.  The diapers will get the same treatment with the addition of bleach and an extra soak and an extra rinse.
  • Any detergent that doesn't have fragrance is fine. I also didn't do separate loads of laundry for baby clothes. Too much damn laundry!

Dreft has a great marketing presence that scares new mothers into thinking they MUST buy special baby laundry detergent.
