I have a friend, whose 30, whose been trying to get pregnant since March (so this is her 2nd cycle) and nothing has happened. She has a Dr's appt in June and plans to tell him that she's been TTC for a year.
I asked her why she was doing to do that..did she think anything was wrong. She said she doesn't think so and she knows she ovulates because she's been charting. So it boils down to her being impatient.
I get being impatient, believe me I do, and I understand fudging the length of time you've been trying but by that much? I just think of the things that the Dr could put her through that she might not need or the meds that he might give her that she doe not need to take and I just don't get it.
Maybe I'm being senstive because of the time that it's taken me, I don't know. This just bothers me for some reason.
Re: Would this annoy you
I'm not sure if it would annoy me or not... I have heard the advice before to "fudge" on the length of time so your insurance will/can cover some of the costs...
But, it boils down to you are annoyed and that is how you feel. I don't think you should feel bad about being annoyed. Own it and move forward from there.
Gee, I sound like a psychologist LOL
Thanks, Dr Shyntrue
It annoys me, I will own it and move on. I think I'm having a bout of PMS right now...which doesn't help.
Yup, I'd be a tad annoyed. She needs to be patient. Yeesh.
I don't know about down in the states, but up here, people who do stuff like that (particularily if they get referred to a specialist) are taking appointments away or causing longer waits for those that may have real challenges.
I hope she never needs any assistance down the road, but she should be more patient now.
I wasn't even thinking about this aspect... Yeah, I guess it would annoy me too.... Cathy, you have shamed me LOL
Oooh Cathy you make an excellent point.
I'm not really sure how RE works here because I've never been to one but yeah that adds another annoying aspect to it.
I just hope that she's just doing this to find out if anything is wrong with her.
And LOL at Shyntrue, no PMS is never helpful.
Yep, I would be annoyed! And concerned for her health. It's like she's going straight onto drugs/treatment with no "natural" information to rely on. Is she going to make up her ovulation history and cycle length too? I'm guessing she hasn't been actively tracking that.
I could see fudging a few months, for insurance purposes, IF she was older and had a real physical reason to hurry things a long.
