MFI - morph issues

I into'd myself last week after finding out my dh had severe abnormality in the morph dept (2%) for his first SA, but everything else was good.   He will have another SA in month to see if there is any change/improvements.   Has anyone ever heard of morph going up on the second SA?   Just wondering how common it is?

Re: MFI - morph issues

  • We had no changes to the morph (0%) between 1st and 2nd SA.   Count and motility did go up.

    Hope you have better luck!

  • You very well could see an improvment!! It really takes more than one S/A to determine MFI.

Although some RE's (mine inculded) feel that if all other counts are normal, low morph will not prevent you from getting pg. It just may take a little longer.

We have low morph and are doing IUI's now.

I always think it is a good idea to have a second SA. My dh's first SA was horrible....we figured there was no hope. The second one had a different outcome. Everything went up. Our first SA showed 95% abnormal, the second one was so much better that the dr said that he believes we can do this on our own or at least IUI. So, I think it is always a good idea to have a second one done. The doctor gave him this explanation.....sometimes you just have a bad batch! Hope that helps and keep us posted!
  • My husband morph is between 4% and 6% - we were hoping to see an improvement since his surgery but it has not gone up - only his count and motility have gone up - the morph remain the same.

  • My DH's morph is terrible...about 1%. Its been the same for almost 2 yrs, even after surgery. All other counts are in the normal range. MFI is our only issue...you can see our history in my siggy.

  • Thanks so much for your replies, ladies.   I guess everyone is different.  I will hope that SA #2 is better, but I wont hold my breath.  The good news is that his counts were really high (160M), so hopefully that will work in our favor.

fredalina - GL with your dh's results.   Thanks for posting when you get them.
