Middle names for girls...all the same

Does anyone else find that middle names for girls seem to be the same few used over and over?

Seriously probably half the people I know have the middle name Marie, Lee, Leigh, Dawn, or Rose. Or Joy.

Myself included :(

My middle name is in that list. I refuse to give my child a plain, boring middle name with no meaning.?
  • Yeah, but I have a theory on this....I figure that most people aren't as concerned with a middle name as they are a first name. So, most people will give their kid a middle name that is named after an aunt or a grandmother or something and that's why you see the same names over and over again for middle names....just a thought, that's all....

  • Yeah, that is why I am using Adair as a mn for a girl. Other "filler" mns are elizabeth, grace, and anne.
  • You forgot Ann/Anne! It's everywhere!

  • I have run into this, but my problem is that I want to use family names for middle names. The probem is that my family names are Catherine, Ann, Lynn, Lee and Fielding.

I've just learned to embrace the traditional.

  • Take the middle name survey on this site and check out some alternatives.  It also talks about Grace, and others becoming the new Marie/Leigh/Dawn/Rose etc.

Catherine isn't a filler. My next daughter's middle name will be Catherine after my grandma. A filler name imo, is a name that sounds good with almost every first name. Catherine doesn't fit that.?

Yes, I agree. If we have another girl, her middle name will be Catherine. It's a family name on both sides of our families?
