Confided in a friend

So I confided in a friend a work today that we are TTC (only the second person I've told so far).  I didn't tell her that it's month 6, so she, assuming it was our first month, decided to tell me what worked for her... don't go pee until at least 20 minutes after... then she suggested going to the pregnancy care center for free pg tests... wow... if only I could have told her that there's so much more to it than that. 

What "advice" have you gotten while TTC?

This exactly. I have a friend that is 35 and has been trying for a year and a half. Her dr. told her she was worrying too much and relax! I was so upset for her when I  heard this.

i wonder exactly what people really mean when they say this. they don't think you'd be trying so hard for something that is so easy for you to 'not think about' do they?

I really hope they mean to not stress over it (as that actually can affect your cycle- but most of them wouldn't know that). However, most of them are clueless enough to believe that if you don't try it will just happen.

That is how my mother is. She swears once I stop wanting a baby I will get pg.

a preacher i used to know and his wife tried for 8 years to have their little girl.  a year or so ago his wife told me "doggy style.  that's totally what got me knocked up."  i was traumatized. At the time, this woman was doing seasonal work here in Alaska (she lived in Michigan) and was living with my parents.  I couldn't look her in the eye after that.

I didn't appreciate my OB telling me that I shouldn't be drinking any alcohol the whole time we're TTC...then he told me to try for a year before we came to pursue other options...oh, and I'll be 35 in September.

i probably heard "when it's the right time it will happen"  the most.  that always pissed me off, was it the "right time" for my 19 year old cousin to get KU?  was it the "right time" for unprepared friends to get KU?

Nobody except my sister knew we were TTC. She advised me to be more relaxed...which actually worked. I know it sounds hokey, but it was true for me. Being less stressed helped possibly with getting KU, not to mention my general well-being!

Take a vacation, stop charting, drink this, eat that, blah, blah, blah.

This.  And, "In our family, no one has to TRY to get pregnant, it just happens." So annoying.  I reminded this person that since I am already married and past the age of 30 I don't fit the other "requirements" for said family fertility.

Well, it's not like I'm not enjoying the sex. I would just enjoy it more if I knew it was doing me any good!! (I don't care how much I relax, my ovaries aren't working yet...)
