TTC after 35

To pee or not to pee

This is my question for all of you.  I can't decide what is worse.

a) testing early and seeing the blank white space on the test. It is awful, but at least it is over fast, sort of like pulling off a band-aid.

or

b) waiting to see if AF shows up. On the one hand, good, because I can pretend/hope to be KU a little longer, but bad because I drive myself crazy running to the bathroom all the time to see if AF has arrived.

So, far I have been following option b, but curious what everyone else does/thinks.

Re: To pee or not to pee

  • What DPO are you?

FWIW, last cycle was my first TTC and I POAS (Dollar Tree) every day from 10DPO.  It was awful and I won't do that again.  Now, my mantra is wait until I'm late.

So I would encourage option B.  When do you expect AF?

  • I usually go with option B. I like the possibility of being pregnant instead of definately not being pregnant.  But I drive myself completely nuts with my phantom pregnancy symptoms.
  • Loading the player...
  • FWIF.....I never test early. I always wait until 12days DPO at least.

But I think I am just uber laid back about the whole thing, because I still think (for us) that cycle 5 is still early in the race. :)

I was just curious in general.  I know I won't be KU this cycle because I was on a girl's trip when I O'd.  So, unless DH has some really long living men, I am sure I will be moving on to cycle #6.  I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks for future reference.

Can you send some "uber laid back dust" my way, please?

    LOL. You are funny!

IDK...I just have this mantra in life that I worry only about what I can control.

I can control the charting, the monitor, taking the pills, trying to stay healthy, and having sex.

Otherwise, it is what is it and I refuse to dwell. Now, if it drags on.....we'll try and figure out what is up (if anything).

How many days DPO are you?

  • I would/will wait until after 14DPO, unless I have symptoms that are not normal for me.

When I was pregnant  I was eating yogurt and got really nauseous so I stopped eating.  I thought 'that was weird' and continued eating thinking maybe it was just a fluke feeling.  Still felt nauseous and once again  'that's weird' was my first thought but I was able to eat the yogurt without vomitting.

I honestly did not think I was pregnant but later that day my Dr confirmed that I was...after she told me I thought 'D'uh you dumba**'  Confused

So if I'm randomly eating yogurt and feel nauseous I will test even if it's before 14DPO..otherwise, I will wait.  It's too disappointing to get the negative pregnancy test.

I always tell myself that too, "don't worry about things you can't control", but I don't always listen well!  I don't know how many DPO I am this cycle, because I took a charting/CBEFM break.  I knew I would be on a girl's trip when I O'd.  This was more of a general question. If I am KU this cycle, it would be a miracle!

  • Okay then I am definitely going to say option B.  I learned the hard way last month that testing early is no fun.  At least waiting you can still have some hope for a BFP until AF arrives.  Either way, I am not going to lie, it will weight heavily on my mind until I know one way or the other.

So, I am just gonna wait until I am late before POAS.  And I am not going to temp my 2WW after O is confirmed.  I was too crazy last month.

I am with Cathy...trying to accept that I can only control so much in this process.  It's a challenge, but I am open to it.  In all honesty I have been working on meditating and using guided imagery with positive thoughts about getting PG, seeing a fertile womb, etc. and it has really helped me settle my brain about all things TTC.

  • I always do option B. Don't even keep HPT in the house.
  • I've been following A but now with my second chemical pg I think I'm switching to B.

  • I tend to do really well until the day of or the day before I expect AF... then I usually end up testing and like clockwork start a few hours later!

    Arrrrgggg!

  • I try so hard to wait it out! I normally get a good temp dip before AF arrives, so I keep temping and watching for the drop. It's saving me a bit of money on tests, that's for sure! However, it does mean lots of going to the bathroom to check and see if I can still hope for a BFP.
