Thunder = angels bowling?

Nora is afraid of thunder.  Now that it is high season for storms in Kansas, that means she's wide-eyed and clinging to me often.  Today was a big day for storms, including a long bout of hail.

Anyway, we told her that thunder was the angels bowling.  She seemed to accept that explanation--for now.

What do you do for/tell your kids that are afraid of storms?

Re: Thunder = angels bowling?

  • My grandmother used to tell me God was rolling potatos in a wheelbarrow and some fell out. I was gullible and bought it for a while and then just thought it was funny. I just tell A it's thundering or storming and don't go into much more explanation but she doesn't freak out too bad during them ... yet.

    That's what my grandma always told us when we were kids.

  • Angels bowling.  God is moving his furniture around.
