When to be concerned about lack of movement?

I'm 31 w 3 days and today noticed I've only felt the babies move a few times.  They are ususally pretty active.

It's hot and muggy out today, so I already feel miserable.  I took a cool shower and felt them moving again.

At what point should I be concerned?  Would you call your dr right away?  I have an appointment in the morning, would you wait since I am feeling them?

Re: When to be concerned about lack of movement?

  • I think the rule of thumb is 10 kicks within 2 hours. Then call the dr. But if it would ease your mind, call. That is what they are there for. My dr said that at this stage, any thing that may feel different, call!
  • I would call your doctor.

  • ?? ?I was reading that at 32 weeks movement does decrease due to the lack of space. I have noticed less kicks but more arms/legs pushing on my stomach. Certain days my girls won't stop moving and certain days they are lazy. They also say to count the kicks at the time of day they are the most active. For me it tends to be after I eat dinner. But definitely call if you don't feel right.

    Melissa :)?

  • I occasionally have days when they are less active.  My dr. said if I get worried to try drinking juice or having something sugary and then lay down to see if it will wake them up.  There are some days that I feel like I don't feel one of the babies much, and my dr said that it could be due to the limited space and how they are wedged in.
