Have you ever heard of hospitals cutting

you a deal if you pay in full?  I am sure someone told me about this and am thinking I read it on this board.  Anyone remember what I am talking about?

Re: Have you ever heard of hospitals cutting

  • I think that I have heard this before too... but I'm not 100% sure. ?The woman I used to work for paid for her daughter's hospital stuff when she had her first baby b/c they refused to get a medical card. ?I'm thinking they got a discount since they were paying like that.?

  • Yeah. Most hospitals would do this in a heartbeat.  It's hard for them, overall, to get the cash in hand with the way payment plans are set up (not to mention insurance delays, etc.) so they're willing to discount (sometimes quite heavily) to those who pay in full.

  • Yep, some do but not all. We did not get one for the hospital I gave birth in, but we had a HUGE bill for the home health nurses and J's bililights and they gave me a 25% if I paid in full. This was our local children's hospital. I just did it Friday. I meant to post this so people would know to ask.
  • its very possible, last summer we were on vaca in pa and ds had to go to er and they told me id i paid my copay on the spot it would be 20% off, lol!!!!

  • I waited until I recieved the bill in the mail then called the billing center.
