It appears that this flu may have infected student is a NYC school and other states are reporting cases of this. It sounds like they don't have a vaccine yet for it but are prescribing a flu drug for it. It is kinda frightening. The link below tells me info.

Expect to eventually see it show up in every state in the US.
Yeah, it's cause for concern but the news media is pretty alarmist and sensationalized. They have to be, it's how they make money.
I'm not leaving my house till they figure out what's going on! lol its scary but the media hypes it up.
I know the media is having a field day with this, but I can't help but to be a little nervous.
This is one of my worst fears, I guess. I watched way too many "people get viruses and go crazy and eat each other" movies. LOL!!
I just went to the CDC's website:
https://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/
Here are their current recommendations:

There is one unconfirmed case in London, so I'm not so worried. The media loves to tell us we are all going to die....

I know, it's no big deal. When they issue a warning to not leave your home but to spray paint the # of healthy people inside on your roof, that is when I will worry.
Precisely why I HATE zombie movies! They give me nightmares.
Sometimes I agree with you. Especially since I work in a Dr.'s office and we get people who worry about the smallest thing (they often watch Fox News, too...coincidence? Hmm...)
From what I understand, the only clinically significant thing about this outbreak is that the viral DNA has changed. This happens constantly to human influenza, so I'm not concerned at this point.
Some people are just more inclined to worry than others, I guess.
From what I understand the viral dna has changed making human to human transmission easier than previous strains of swine flu. This, and the lack of a vaccine is what is causing more fear than normal. The networks fail to say that the virus responds well to treatment from two already existing anti-virals (i think that is what they are.)
Long story long-wash your flippin' hands, people!
