My definition of tmi is simply more than you needed to know about a poster. Anyway, you were warned...
I haven't pooped since Monday. Should I take a laxative, or just continue to try to let nature take its course? I've been eating fruit and fiber and everything!
Would this worry you, and what's the longest you've gone without going #2?
Re: tmi post wwyd
Hmm...this would kinda worry me. I would only go the laxative route if I were having discomfort over it. Are you? Are you taking any medications that would cause the...backup? lol.
I think the longest I have gone is 4 days? And that was recently, and I believe it was the Vicodin I was on.
I have not ever taken a laxitive. I think they're evil.
A nice strong cup of coffee works wonders. Throw in a few bottles of water, some oatmeal, and a bran muffin..... You will poop!

Just this evening I feel like my dinner is sitting really high on me. I was in a couple situations where I had to go, but I couldn't and then it went away when I was at a bathroom! Hmm, the provera doesn't list it as a SE
how frustrating.. and uncomfortable
I would definitely take a laxative or drink lots and lots of coffee.. whatever you gotta do to make you go!

Laxies are evil! I get one good poop out of it and then diarrhea for a day or two afterward. Frustrating! But at least it would be out of my system.
Is this a common thing for you or something new? Are you having lots of pain or any other unusual symptoms? If you don't go by tomorrow, you might want to consider taking something OTC. You can ask your MD or Pharmacist for advice on what to choose. But if you start to get really bad abdominal pains or vomiting or your belly swells up, you might want to consider a Dr's appt or the ER if it's really bad.
If you want to stay natural, try apple juice, or prune juice, or dried/stewed prunes. We used a mix called Nurse's Cocktail in the nursing homes I've worked at, it's equal parts ginger ale, prune juice, and apple juice and drink a glass or two in 8-10 hours. Beware, it might cause a blowout! I've seen some interesting results after administering that stuff.
I've gone 9 days once...SO PAINFUL! Doc told me to buy magnesium citrate and mix with sprite...That stuff is amazing and tastes great...GL!
No, not common at all for me. I go every other day at least. LOL at blowout. I'm slightly scared, but I will try your natural potion. I'm off all day Monday, soo...

I went a few days after surgery once and I had a blockage. My doc told me to take mag citrate to, but I just took so milk of mag. You could also try some miralax mixed in a beverage of your choice (they sell it OTC and it has no taste). If your belly is really starting to bug you I would def take something.
This might be too personal, but I am a nurse so I gotta ask- Are you passing any gas?
Okay this just made me LOL! Yeah, thar she blows -indeed!. Okay, I'm done being gross.
Not more than usual. But now that you mentioned it first, I was extremely gassy before I stopped pooing.
Sometimes if you are passing gas at least you know that something is still moving through there! I would be more worried if you weren't passing gas, but I would still def take something. When I had to take something I took Milk of Mag and it worked wonders!
You could have small amounts of diarrhea and still have a partial bowel obstruction, so unfortunately passing gas is no guarantee...

On the bright side, if you do have a blowout, you should be able to make it to the toilet! Not the case with many of my residents/patients over the years... I tell my DH that years of being a nurse assistant/nurse have prepared me for baby poop. He, on the other hand, is still requesting a full hazmat suit!
Definitely drink lots of water. Otherwise you'll have a very hard time when you do go.
