Trying to Get Pregnant

Starting OPKs...

This is my first cycle, and I'm really using them to try and catch O, so I can finish my bloodwork. My question is for anyone who temps AND uses OPKs. How often do your readings match up with your chart? Oh, and I got the fun digital ones with the smiley. Smile

Re: Starting OPKs...

  • Which kind did you get abc?  I know this has been posted here before, but I tried using the search function and am not finding much.

    TIA!

  • I just ordered a set of OPKs from early-pregnancy-test.com.  Waiting till they get here to start!  I did a long time ago for a couple of months but never got a positive all month long.  Thats why I'm thinking I don't ovulate.  Now just to get my doctor to do something about that!  GL!

  • Mine matched every cycle. I've taken down my other charts, but you can see my one cycle in my siggy. GL!!

PS - the smiley ones are the best. Smile

    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • Those fun smiley ones are EXPENSIVE! If I was you..I would buy the cheapies from the internet or answer brand from the drug store. Pee on them, then when the two lines come up and your not 100% sure pee on the cute digital ones! I have yet to cave and listen to my advice though, I just can't see spending $30.00 on a box of them even if I would only use 2 a cycle or so.

Anyway..from the looks of my chart, they are never right =( Oh well I still pee on them, I love to pee on things! =) Good luck finishing your bloodwork!

  • mine matched each month but 1 - and the one it didn't match ff gave me the dotted crosshairs before I got a + on the opk. Now I'm not charting, just using OPK's.

I've used the digital smiley face ones and the cheaper 2 line ones, and I like the smiley face ones the best .. something about getting the Smile makes it even more exciting. haha.

  • Melinz- They are expensive, but I don't plan on using them long-term. I didn't want to mess with reading lines, or having to pee in the middle of the day at work, so I went with digital. I like the smiley, cause, it's unmistakeable, lol.
  • Mine matched up great this cycle.. got a + opk and then FF confirmed that I O'ed the following day.

My only advice is you may want to test more than once a day if your line is getting close to dark enough to be positive, because your surge may happen in a few hours.  That's what's happened with me.

  • If it helps, mine matched every cycle along with my CH on FF. My bfp cycle my opk and ch matched to the day according to my u/s so I think they can be very accurate.

GL ABC!!!!! I hope there is a little 123 running around for you very soon.

True! And if you're only using them this cycle for blood work I can understand that! =)

No lines, I got the digitals.

  • Last cycle, my OPK matched my chart perfectly...this cycle I had a few days of positives and my chart looks jacked up. Good luck!!

Lol, little 123. I like that!

I hope so too. For now, I just want to finish this bloodwork, and confirm that I am in fact O-ing. If a little 123 comes from that, SWEET!

Yar, I saw you posted that as I was typing my response..  :)

  • I used Target brand for the last few months with no positive, although I was pretty close a few times.  My "almost" positives were in line with my CM for fertility.  FF has yet to give me crosshairs, but I think I O'd last cycle and possibly the cycle before.

If you're considering them long term, I'd definately go with internet cheapies.  The target one (two lines) were $15 for seven, and using them 2x's/day got to be too much $$ for me.  I bought 20 OPKs and 5 HPTs from amazon for $12.20 + $1.99 s&h.  What a difference! And they took about a week to get here (WNY).

GL!  Glad to hear the dr.s are moving forward with you. I think most of GP wants to see the result of your previous siggy equation! Big Smile

  • Unfortunately, I used OPKs for 3 cycles and I never got a positive. ?There was only 1 time when I even had a faint line show up! ?Maybe I should have gotten the smiley face ones! ?GL! ?

  • The 2 times I have used them, they have matched up. I usually get a + 1-2 days before I actually O.
