5w2d... no symptoms

Ugh.  The worry will never end, I'm sure.  Sooooo, today I'm 5w2d, and everyone on 1st tri and here talks about how tired they are in early pregnancy.  How exhausted and sleepy all the time.

Me?  Not so much. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that this weekend will include me, the cats, and the first season of Mad Men... but I could go out and go shopping if I needed to.

And food?  I'm eating pretty much the normal amount and types of foods.  No problems.

And my bbs feel less sore today. Granted, I have yet to put on a bra...

And I've had a little bit of brown spotting yesterday and today.

Cripes.  How on earth will I make it another almost two weeks until the u/s?

So.  Is it normal to feel... basically nothing?

Thanks - I feel like such a noob.

Re: 5w2d... no symptoms

  • I never had the tired issue, I went to bed my normal time and everyone kept telling me how they couldn't stay up past 8 when they were pg!  It wasn't a problem for me.  The only thing I really had from 5-8 weeks was the cramping/pulling coming and going but once 8 weeks hit, hello nausea!

Hoping this time flies for you and the US is here ASAP!

  • I think it's very normal to feel "nothing" the first couple weeks.  If I remember correctly, besides cramping, I didn't really have any pregnancy symptoms (like nausea, tired, etc) until at least 7 weeks.

You're okay! I know I how hard it is those first few weeks, er trimester, you are analyzing EVERYTHING.  I didn't stop checking TP (and I mean checking it EVERY time I went) until just a few weeks ago.

  • I didn't have any of the typical pregnancy symptoms (nausea, vomiting, exhaustion) until I hit 7 weeks. I think it's normal not to feel anything very early on, and it's also normal to feel NO "normal" pregnancy symptoms the entire time. I know how you feel though - it would actually be a comfort to be puking! Hang in there - everything will be fine :)

  • When we had the National GTG in November I was 6w2d and I sat next to Schmoodle and Alison43 at lunch where they talked about how they couldn't eat certain things (I had just had a spotting scare earlier that week but had seen the baby on u/s at 6w1d).  I was sure that since I was able to eat my lunch and didn't really have food aversions (that I picked up on at the time anyway) that meant I was going to lose the baby.

I was tired during first tri but it wasn't all out exhaustion (well, sometimes it was but not that early).  I didn't really sleep more, I slept better at night and otherwise just felt kind of lazy but I totally thought it was within the normal range at the time.  It wasn't until I got my energy back in 2nd tri that I realized just how tired I had been during first tri, if that makes sense.  In fact, most of the symptoms I had I didn't really recognize as being symptoms until they were gone.

Yes, the first tri is hell.  I'm so happy for the new bfps but actually feel bad for all the stress you have to go through in the next several weeks.  I don't miss that absolute fear feeling.  It does get better, then of course you get new things to worry about ; )

  • I never got the awful tiredness everyone always talks about in the beginning. ?Not everybody gets every symptom. ?I know how you feel, though ... it can be reassuring to have something to tell you that it's still going well. ?And "less sore" sounds like it still might mean "at least somewhat sore," so I'd just go with that and watch Mad Men with the cats. ?:)
  • Also, I have heard people say the sicker you are or the more symptoms you have the "healthier" your pregnancy is...that is sooooo NOT true, so don't worry about it in terms of that.
  • I had no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever.  Zero. Nothing.  No real tiredness, nausea nothing.  And I ended up with twins.  I know how hard it is and 2 weeks is a long time to wait but hang in there.

  • I had virtually no symptoms until 8 wks.  I know it's hard not to worry, but just know that what you're NOT feeling is totally normal!!!
  • I felt nothing until around 8 weeks.  My boobs looked smaller than usual, they were not veiny, they did not hurt at all, I was not tired, had no food aversions .. you get the picture.  It freaked me out too.  Around 7/8 weeks - I started to get some nightly nausea and heartburn.  Never puked, never felt sick in the morning.   So don't sweat your lack of symptoms (yeah, right, I know!)  Hang in there E!

  • I felt nothing really until 7 weeks (tired) then at 10 weeks nausea and more tired....don't worry.

  • Im 11wks and 2 days and the only symptom I have had is I am very tired. No m/s, no sore bbs, nothing. So because I haven't had any symptoms it's hard to believe I am actually pg.

Thank you ladies :)  DH is out of town and my "restful girls' weekend (meaning me and the cats)" has given me  too much time to analyze.

I just finished a 1000 piece puzzle.  May be time to start another :)

I promise I'll try to keep these silly posts to a minimum... try.  Zip it!

  • Never got tired.  Not until the end of my pregnancy when sleep was always interrupted by peeing.

    I didn't get m/s until I was closer to 7w.

I had spotting around 5w and again at 7w.  I freaked the hell out.  DH thought I was insane.

Try not to fret...I know its easier said than done.  When you do get some kind of wretched pregnancy symptom, you will look back at this time with longing.  :)

  • First off..you are COMPLETELY normal...I promise.

I had no symptoms whatso ever until (seriously) the day after my u/s at the RE...so 6w 3 d...after that I was sick as a dog until 19 weeks.

Also, I was a MESS my entire pregnancy (even before my cerclage and strict BR)...my OB was awesome and told me that whenever I was having anxiety, etc to call her and she'd work me in for an u/s...thankfully she was very supportive and understanding of how I felt, esp. after IF...she told us taht she gives ALL of her IF patients a little more TLC.

Hang in there...the next 2 weeks will pass slowly (which sucks), but all will be well! I know it!

  • I had NO symptoms either!!!! It made me so nervous in the begining but all it meant was that I had the easiest 1st trimester.  Don't let the lack of symptoms make you crazy.  Hope the time till your u/s goes quickly I know the wait is torture!

  • Exactly one week ago (5w2d), I was completely freaked out that I was no longer pregnant b/c I had NO symptoms.  The cramping stopped, my boobs didn't hurt, I felt no nausea.....

So, I frantically went to the RE asking for another beta.  They agreed but told me they see girls like me all the time right around the 5w mark panicked that they aren't pg anymore!  LOL.  I can't tell you how much better that made me feel.  My beta was over 1500 and four days later I had my u/s which showed totally normal.

I'm sure everything is fine and you're just like the rest of the worried IVFr's.  I hope this week flies by for you....and me, my next u/s is on Friday!!

    Good luck.  :)

  • E,

I am completely with you. I am obsessing with my lack of symptoms. I am constantly grabbing my chest to see if they hurt. They hurt this afternoon, but seem to be fine now. I have been going to the bathroom a lot, but I am drinking a lot more water so I don't know if that's a symptom of me just drinking too much. I'm not tired either. When is your u/s? I go on Thursday. I hope it reassures me a little.

  • I never had tiredness - that I can remember.  I had spotting with all my IVF/art cycles.  :)
  •  Congrats there girl! The best new on these boards for a long time!

I seriously felt nothing until 7-8 weeks. I did have a metallic taste in my mouth and the smell of street vendor hotdogs was almost appealing ( I do not eat meat), but that is it.

Quite truthfully, I think a lot of women on 1st tri board exaggerate a bit. Lots of women also say to themselves, I am pregnant I now can pig out. They go into a carb coma and wonder why they are tired... :)

Good luck with your ultrasound :)  I am so happy for you!

  • Just to echo everyone else...I had no symptoms at all until around 8 weeks. That's when the fatigue and nausea kicked in for me. And it was better by about 10 weeks. Hang in there!!

  • For the first few weeks, I was not tired, did not have sore bb's, did not have any nausea, no increased sense of smell, no food aversions, and I DID have brown spotting. Everything turned out just fine! Even once my symptoms started, the were mild. In fact, I just got AF for the first time postpartum today and I was saying to DH that the exhaustion I feel with AF is so much worse than any exhaustion I had during pregnancy.

I think you are just fine! I know waiting for that ultrasound is hard, though.

  • E - we have the longest wait til u/s ever...maybe even in the history on SaiF ;) Who makes an IVFr wait until 7 weeks??? Our Docs are crazy :)

I really feel mostly normal - a little more tired, chest is veiny, HUNGRY, strong sense of smell and a like 2 food aversions that started this weekend. I kinda wish I felt more and wonder what is "real" & what I am over analyzing...

  • Yep....totally normal.  Give it a week or 2.  FWIW, I never had any m/s...just an extremely sensitive sense of smell and was totally fatigued for weeks on end.  Now that I know better....I miss the super-deep sleep I got back then!
  • I didn't have any symptoms until almost 6 weeks and I was worried too.  But now I have a beautiful baby girl, so try to relax, but I know it's hard.
  • the only symptom I had early on was lots of peeing...

but then all of a sudden, about 8 weeks, my m/s kicked in and never left...

Symptoms come and go, and though it can make you crazy, it is normal

  • I had almost no symptoms until I was in between week 6/7. My m/s was very mild. I would go days feeling perfectly fine with no problems at all and then be sick for a day or two. At 12 weeks it was like a light switch and I began to feel better. You are perfectly normal.

  • both times i didn't start getting nauseous at all until about 7 weeks..and i didn't really have it bad either time..even with the twins i barely had any symptoms. last time my boobs didn't hurt a bit..this time they didn't even really start until 12 weeks. i felt like such a goofball, feeling myself up constantly, haha!?

AND both times i spotted/even bled quite a bit..

last time from 7-10 weeks on and off spotting

this time from 5-6 weeks brown spotting and even red ?blood..

  • I didn't start getting tired until about 7 weeks. I was SO tired at that point. It lasted until maybe 11 weeks.

It's funny. Even now, I don't eat more. I have to watch how much I eat bc I get full SO FAST. If I over eat, I'm in for a bad stomache ache. But, I wasn't like that at 5-6 weeks. Probably started around 8-9 weeks. That's when the chocolate adversion started too.

My boobs were sore at that time, but I was still pumped full of IVF meds at that time, so I was never sure if it was the meds or the pregnancy. My boobs aren't sore now (I just felt myself up, lol).

I also spotted at about 5 weeks, but nothing at all since then. It was brown and only a few spots on my panty liner. I think it lasted about 3 pantyliners.

I didn't get nausas until 8 weeks and really I cannot complain, I threw up twice only and the nausua wasn't too bad at all.

The one thing that was a real symptom early on was the peeing. It was insane. I was waking up at night 3-4 times a night (still do). But in the beginning I also had OHSS, so I thought it was from that. Now I know it was probably normal.

My cousin is having her 2nd baby and she is about 8 w now, she is insanely sick and nausas. She said her first pregnancy was really easy.

I don't know how you will survive until the u/s. The wait SUCKS!!!!!!!!

  • I'm 10 weeks, and I haven't had many symptoms at all.  I've felt basically normal, not any more tired than usual.  I think the only constant symptom I've had is being thirsty during the night.  Otherwise, I have felt like the oddball after hearing how bad the 1st trimester can be.

I hope the next 2 weeks go by quickly for you!  I'm surprised they're making you wait so long.  :(

  • I was never super tired.  I didn't have any m/s.  I felt basically nothing, except some cramping that just made me nervous as hell.  Really, now all I feel is occasional RLP and other joint type pains.  I don't really feel pregnant in any way except that my clothes don't fit.

  • My symptoms come and go - sore bbs, tiredness, frequent thirst and hunger, some cramping.. Haven't cramped in over 2wks. I freaked out when they suddenly disappeared one day for almost a week. Once the nurse told me it wasn't uncommon, I felt better. The first thing out of the doctor's mouth during the u/s was "i see a healthy heartbeat". No longer will I complain about lack of or mild symptoms. Try to enjoy it. I know it's easier said than done.
  • I was completely fine at that point also.  But at 6wks, everything changed and bad m/s hit.  Do what you can now in case it happens to you cause it is quite a problem even getting grocery shopping done.

We even threw a huge 60 person party at our house when I was around 5 wks and i made it thru it no problem.

Congrats to you and DH too!

  • I really didn't have many symptoms until after about 6.5 weeks.   and the boob soreness was on and off the whole time...one day sore, the next day nothing....

I think you're fine!!! enjoy it while you can.  bc in a few weeks, you may not be as fortunate!!!  GL!

  • 21 weeks here & never tired (until recently but still not that crazy exhaustion people talk about), no nausea, no food aversions or cravings (I was really hungry during the night a few times but that started a little later) and bbs were sore on & off. It freaked me out a lot in the first tri too, so I won't say 'don't worry' but try not to, since there are many of us who dont feel much either! GL....
  • I never felt anything either.  No morning sickness, no strange cravings/aversions.  Nothing.  My boobs didn't even hurt.  I wouldn't have known I was pregnant if not for the dozens of sticks I peed on.  It's still very early of course.  Morning sickness doesn't kick in for a lot of people until 6-7 weeks.  But - maybe you'll be lucky and won't be sick at all!

I always thought of it as God throwing me a bone for all the trouble it was for me to get pregnant.  If that's the case, I'm sure you'll not be sick at all!!!

  • E,

I'm in the same boat. I told DH yesterday - I don't "feel" pregnant. I guess we should be thankful that we do not have any symptoms yet and hope we do not get MS.

When is your U/S? Mine is scheduled for Friday, May 1st.

  • I'm doing the same thing...boobs are pretty sore and Friday I was extremely tired, but that was it.  I'm a bit tired but not really pronounced yet.  I keep pressing my chest to make sure they're still sore and checking each time i go to the bathroom (I had implantation spotting before my BFP)  I'm hoping the u/s on Tuesday goes fine so I can at least breathe for a little while.

I just hit 6 weeks today, so I'm right there with you.  I go for another beta tomorrow, last one was 1417, so my numbers are good, theres really not a reason to worry, and yet here I am...

Nice to know so many others are exactly like me.
