You could just give money if that's easy...otherwise Hallmark usually has stuff for Baptisms. Something like a baby bible, a cross, a prayer something. Some people just buy a "regular" gift of clothes and such. IMO, it's usually an event that you'd bring a gift. HTH!

Despite the fact they may be douchebag's you do need to get a gift. I would get them something off the registry if there is anything left or go to a religious store and get something there. You can do lots of things from a prayer book to rosary. If you ask at the store they will have lots of suggestions.
a typical gift for a baptism is $ or a savings bond. ?if you go to a christian store they have baptismal gifts, but if you aren't catholic i probably wouldn't do that. ?
Oh, I usually don't get anything religous (except for my godson) because so many people do that and you really don't need more then one rosary or cross, religous or regular jewlery would be nice if you didn't want to do a toy or clothes.
Lol! I hope you guys didn't think I meant I wouldn't give them a gift just cause I can't stand them. I do have a little class. Just a little though
Ok, I hear ya on the religious items, but in all honestly they NEVER attend church and I don't forsee the kids religious involvement going much beyond the batptism.
So $$$$ is ok? I don't wan't to seem tacky if we give money.

Why? Will the store burst into flames or something???

It's not tacky at all. You should get a money gift card and you'll be fine!

Money is the best way to go IMHO. I'm a godmother and I gave him a little cross for his chain (waste of money) and a check for the bank account that the parents have for him.

um no.....i mean i wouldn't give a gift symbolizing a religion that i am not. ?

People have registries for baptisms?! ?I've never heard of that! ?Interesting.
?I'm going to my nephew's baptism tomorrow (Lutheran). ?I got him a wooden Noah's Ark puzzle (with the chunky pieces) and a Noah's Ark ABC book. ?DH and I went to a friend's baptism a few weeks ago (Greek Orthodox) and the tradition there is to give money. ?So, that's what we did.?

most people buy things off the initial registry when the baby was born since baptisms are typically a few months after.?

Ha! ?Thank you for the clarification! ?That makes much more sense! ??
Being from a HUGE traditional family (catholic) It is traditional to just bring a card with money. No other gift needed. THe money is put into an account for the baby for his/her future.

LMAO. Every Catholic parent I know spends it within a week.
Anyway- the Noah's Ark thing is something my mom generally does, otherwise money. How much is up to you.
Yeah that's why alot of people get Savings Bonds instead of money. (not sure about why Catholic's spend the money like that in your opinion)
Anyhow, other good gifts would be:
piggy bank, silver cup engraved, spoon, baby book, place setting for child (porcelain sets), silver rattle...any kind of keepsake like that.?

I always do, but I usually am only invited to family ones.
even for a friend I would probably get one. most of the time people just give toys, but savings bonds and religous items are popular too.
