Trying to Get Pregnant

My neighbor is about to force me to call the cops (looong)

Ugh.

There is house where the backyard kitty corners with our backyard. Almost all afternoon yesterday and well into the night (until at leas 11pm) there is a dog in the backyard whimpering and whining. Well it seemed to stop around around midnight when I went to bed but bright and early at 6am he was out there crying again. It seemed to stop around 9am but now he's back again. I have no idea if he's been outside the whole time or they take him in for short periods. I tried to see over the dividing wall to check for him having water and/or food but I couldn't tell.

It's not that we are "disturbed" by the noise, I'm worried about this poor guy. It's Arizona. It's not hot today but it will be soon. With all these people dumping the family pet and just skipping town it makes me nervous. However, in order to have an officer actually respond I need to go on the record as a complainant with my name which doesn't thrill me, but I'm not willing to let this poor guy be neglected.

Frustration.

  • Can you get a boost from DH to see if the Dog has food, water and shelter from the sun?  If not you are totally within your right to call the SPCA.

I was thinking the same thing.  I mean, not that I've had experience with this, but I'd want to call someone who works directly with animals.  I hope I'm making sense!

  • I would personally go and make sure the dog has water, by giving him some.

Check on him (unless the dog's unfriendly).  If he looks neglected, call right away.

I'm a bleeding heart animal lover, I cannot stand suffering.  If the dog looks even mildly neglected, you shouldn't turn your back regardless if you have to go on the record or not.  It your neighbor's fault, not yours.

  • Does the SPCA have the jurisdiction to respond to a report like that? Or maybe the humane society? I'm gonna look into that.  I was thinking about taking a walk over there to make sure the house isn't for sale or seems vacant too....

When DH gets home if he's still there I'm gonna have boost me up so I can try and get a better look.

  • Poor guy! I think wandering over to see if it is vacant or whatever is a good idea.
  • SCPA has jurisdiction.  They will probably just give a warning and then come back to check if its not too bad.  If it is really bad neglect they can take the dog away asap.

Can you tell I used to watch that Animal Cops show on Animal Planet?

Love that show! But it usually made me cry being the animal lover that I am. I'm taking Stella and we're gonna walk over there and investigate. I'll report back later!

People around us let their dogs roam wild. It drives me insane. I have 3 neighbors with these huge dogs who take elephant dumps on my yard--We've tried to ask nicely for them to clean up after their dogs, but it isn't working... It's frustrating as, well, crap.
