Trying to Get Pregnant

definitely a stupid question....

but i've googled this and can't seem to find the answer..

I work out quite a bit... Mostly cardio stuff.. elliptical and treadmill 6-7 times a week.  and usually average burning about 600 calories while im there for the hour.

Will strenuous exercise affect implantation at all?

  • I have no idea...but kudos on the working out! I wish I had that kind of motivation!

  • Are you extremely underweight and skinny? If you have less than 10% body fat then I have been told that might effect it. But overall I doubt it. I'm not doctor though so if your concerned I would bring it up to them. BTW I'm currently training for a marathon (well a half) and my doctor is all for my 20-30 mile a week running program while TTC.
  • My doc has told me that exercise is good while ttc, and that I should try to maintain my activity leve after I conceive, at least for awhile . . .

  • I'm an intense runner (long distances at a 7:40 pace).  I also box, take bikram yoga, and lift.  My dr. told me the exercise is no way going to affect my getting KU.  And believe me, after 10 months TTC I have had my doubts, but she swears it is fine.

  • Thanks girls! I average about 6 miles or so a day.

Im 5'7 and about 120, and they did tell me at the Dr's i was in the lower range of normal for my BMI but normal nonetheless..

  • I wish I could burn 600 calories on the elliptical! I think as long as you are not a hardcore weightlifter, cardio is not going to have a negative impact on TTC. I worked out probably every other day.
  • I am same height and weight as you, and at my yearly last year, she told me that I may want to consider gaining weight (at least 10lbs) when thinking about conceiving. I have my next yearly in June which I am going to ask her again about. Last year it wasn't something we were thinking about doing anytime soon..

same thing for me. my dr told me to try to have a bmi of 20-21 is ideal. not that that you cant or wont get pg if you're under that, but that it just might be easier if i was 20-21 bmi since i had irregular periods. I am also 5'7" and i was 120 lbs when we started ttc, i was up to 130 lbs when i got my bfp. i have no idea if it helped or not.

  • My DR said it might be beneficial to gain about 5 lbs. but only incase when i do get pregnant and lose weight with morning sickness..
