I'm looking through local listings just for the heck of it. Some of these places are so junky and not show-ready and/or the pictures are just awful. Even worse is when there are no pictures b/c then I think the place might just be that sh*ttastic. Isn't the purpose to sell the house?
But, damn the ones that are gorgeous with a killer price. One day ... one day.
Re: Awful or no pictures will not sell a house
some of these are foreclosures and trust me I've seen some down right nasty ones... my MIL is a realtor specializes in foreclosures. I go with her sometimes to give her a hand and there are 2 houses that I will never ever forget!
The Monkey house and the Paper Towel house.
The Monkey house was actually a crack house that had a dead monkey in it. The smell was so awful and overpowering.
The Paper Towel house was a house that belong to an OCD lady. She washed her hands obsessively and just throw the paper towels on the floor. The entire house had paper towels waist high. We were wading thru paper towels...it was kinda creepy because you didnt know what was actually on the floor. A friend of the family bought that house and after it was all cleaned up and a little remodeling done it was and still a beautiful house! The transformation was simply amazing.
My oldest DS used to have a job (in the winter) cleaning up foreclosed homes in Detroit (think scary). He said some were just incredibly filthy and he didn't even want to think what he was picking up. Never found any bodies thank goodness. He did find a brand new (with tags on) snowmobile jacket identical to the one he had! And it fit him!! LOL Nice to have a spare!
I agree with you...when it says photo not available. Hmmm...why not? Is it that bad?
Sometimes my sellers are concerned with having interior photos because they fear that it may attract robbers. This usually happens with older sellers and with as much as their home is exposed on the internet, the opt out of interior photos
Also, when the listing is brand new and the papers were signed at night, there may be just one photo uploaded until others are able to be taken in better light.
And, like you said, most of the time, the home is a peice of shiznit.
