EI problem

I called two month ago to have G re-eval. The nurse came over and decided to have him check at 6 month adjusted to see if he would need PT. At 6 month adjusted he could barely put weigh on his legs and roll over. It seems that G is one month behind C. I just got the call to have the nurse come over and re-eval G. A month later. I've been working on G and he is now standing and rolling all over the place. They are NOT sitting by themselves or trying to sit. They do not crawl or stand on 4 legs. Should I still have them come and do the re-eval? In NY they only look for severe cases and I just don't want to waist our or their time coming over if they are considered to be mild. The boys at 9 months old 7 adjusted. Should they be sitting themselves? We have their 9 month check up next week but I have to call the EI on Monday.

Re: EI problem

  • I would get the eval just in case.  There is nothing to lose.  I live in the detroit area and our system is the same so it can be a bit frustrating but I would go for it.  My boys were late on a lot of these things and are caught up now but like I said I would do the eval.

We had the boys evaluated until 18 months and it gave us peace of mind.

Hope this helps and good luck!

  • I agree with the PP. I'd have them evaluate anyway. They look for more than just the big milestones.

They weren't so concerned that Robbie was sitting, but there were other things like the way that he holds his arms, he head control when on his side and other more subtle things than just sitting and rolling.

If nothing else, they'll come and tell you he's doing great and you're reassured. Nothing lost.

  • I would do it.  We didn't do any of that (and still don't roll on bellies or sit up on our own) but at that same age when we were re-evaluated they upped our services because they weren't doing those things.  I would do it.
