I've heard mixed things about how long to take it/How much to take....Anyone have any experience with it? I picked up a bottle tonight and want to start tomorrow,
I was told to take it to help lengthen my LP. I tried it for 4 days and I was getting very sick to my stomach from it, so i stopped taking it. I prob didn't give it enough time to work. I may give it a second chance, but for now I'm sticking with the B6 to help lengthen it.
I have no problems with the B6. It's a little big for me (I'm a pill baby) but, I choke it down haha. I'm taking 200mg. I'm also trying Red Raspberry Leaves (You can do a Tea or a Pill. I'm doing Pill) this cycle to help lengthen it, no problems with that either. I'm not sure if the combo of the pills I was taking with the Vitex was making me have a upset stomach or what. I didn't try any other combo's I just stopped taking it for now.
I started taking it this cycle, hoping to correct a late ovulation/estrogen dominance and head off a possible lp defect (last cycle was 9 days, but it was the first cycle post-ectopic pregnancy, so it may just have been that).
There are a lot of different ideas on dosage and efficacy - but scientific studies indicate that vitex taken regularly can help about 2/3 of women with cycle regulation to at least some extent.
While many women report positive effects in the first cycle, it's a cumulative effect - you will know in 2-3 cycles whether or not it will help you.
I'm currently taking 500 mg once a day, per the instructions on the first bottle. If this cycle doesn't work, then I will up that to 1000 mg, per the instructions on the new bottle.
I have had nausea off and on since the last 2ww. I don't know whether that is due to the vitex - it started about 2 weeks before I started taking the vitex - or something else. I know it's been bad the last three days, so who knows. Nausea and headaches are potential side effects, but if you are taking lower doses and/or introduce slowly to build tolerance, then only about 2% of women experience side effects.
I can't really say whether it's helping or not. I o'd as late as I have in any other cycle on cd 26, but I've only been taking it for about 3 weeks.
It can't really hurt anything, and has a good chance at helping.
