Last year we had a little raft thing for DS- it worked perfectly. What should we get for him this year (we're going away)? What about the arm bands (water wings)?
We have DS in swim lessons. Honestly, we don't plan on putting anything on him. We just hold him in the pool and practice his swim lesson instructions with him.
i don't plan to use any floatation device at the pool.... i am not a fan of water wings -they give false sense of security to the child (and parents) and actually can hinder learning to swim.
for fun play- noodles or a kick board ... but obviously we'll be right with him constantly.
I'm not going to have him in a life jacket at the pool- only when we visit my BIL at the lake and on the boat.
our pool has a really nice graduated entry on the kiddie end- so DS can walk in slowly... he learned even last year how far was too far. This year i expect him to want to jump in off the wall - with one of us catching him of course.
he never liked the flotation devices - he just liked for us to hold him out in the deeper water in the past years.
Re: 2yo at the pool...
A life vest. Those water wings aren't very safe.
Liam is 5!
