Trying to Get Pregnant

Short luteal phases....anyone currently on progesterone?

This is charting cycle #4, 5 months off of BCP.  My LP are short and inconsistent: 11 days, 6 days, etc.  I am currently 6 DPO and am feeling crampy, tender BBs, etc like AF is approaching.  BFF - an OB/GYN pharmaceutical rep - has encouraged me to see my doc about checking my progesterone levels, that I may have a LP defect.  Anyone have experience with this, or can offer some advice?  I've read online about B6 supplements, but I'm a little wary of this.  TIA!

  • if you're having LP less than 10 days, then i would speak to your dr about it.

  • I would definitely try B-6 before progestrone, as you can take this OTC. Just be sure to not take over 200 mg total, which includes the intake in your PNV. I began taking B-6 last cycle, and went from 10 day luteal to 12. I am hoping for another increase this cycle...

I am always in favor of trying natural or at-home remedies before hormones, but to each their own. GL!

  • you can also take progesterone cream which is all natural & OTC. I got mine through my acupuncturist, but they sell it at places like GNC.
  • I am currently on progesterone for LPD.  It sounds to me like you just need to be more patient, because you might still be regulating.  You're only in your 5th month off of BCP, which speaks to the inconsistency.  Your LP should be the same every month, with maybe a 1-2 day variation.  I think it's too soon to assume you have LPD.

I've heard mixed reviews about the effects of B6.  Progesterone cream needs to be prescribed.  You should get a doctor's advice regardless of what you do, because self medicating with B6 could get your body all wonky, and then when you finally do go see an RE (if necessary) you want to be as regulated as you normally are.

    Hope that helps.
