Baby sleepwear

For those of you who have older babies, what did you put your newborn in to sleep in over the summer?  We got central air last year.  Originally I thought I'd put her in onesies but maybe she'll get too cold with the air on?  But then I worry about her getting too warm in a light sleeper...  Ok, so I worry too much, but what does everyone else do??

Re: Baby sleepwear

  • No personal experience yet, but my girlfriend (whose son was born in June) recommended Carter's Sleeplikely gowns to me.  They're lightweight and they have an opening at the bottom -- as opposed to PJs with feet.  Supposedly the opening at the bottom helps regulate temperature and keep baby comfy.

Then again, if we end up swaddling, I'll probably just put him in a onesie under the blanket.

  • No experience here yet on the summer sleeping, either, but we'll either swaddle her in a onesie and then once she outgrows the swaddle, a onsie in a Halo sleepsack.

  • We did and still plan to do a cotton footed sleeper with a lightweight sleepsack. You can play around and see how cold or warm they feel in the mornings. You can also close the central air vent in the baby's room if you think it's getting too cold.
  • our boys slept in onesies and a lightweight swaddle.

Or one of those sleeper/dresses.  We have a/c but shut the vent in their room, it still got cool, but not cold like the rest of the house.  I had little sweaters so I had to try a few different things to see what worked.

Luke often slept in just a onesie...he's a hot body little man.

  • onesies and swaddled
  • We put Sophia in onesies and we have central air.  If I felt it was too cold, I just closed the vent.  She was in our room in the bassinet beside my side of the bed all last summer (she was born July 22) and we swaddled her for the first month or so, so she was warm enough in onesies.  They have light sleepers that I think would be fine and the sleep gowns come in light fabric also.
  • The Children's Place footed cotton sleepers are the best for summer nights. Chase is wearing one right now. They are 3 for $25 right now and there is a 10% coupon circulating.
  • We used the Gerber cotton zip up sleepers. ?You can get them at Walmart, at least the ones which zip! ?I thought the zipper was so much easier than the buttons! ?Walmart is the only place I have found the have the zip up ones. ?
  • Last summer connor slept in a onesie and a microfleece sleep sack swaddle.
