Um holyshit

So, I listed a bunch of Jackson's clothes from last year on ebay.

The auctions ended a few minutes ago.

For a grand total of...$1010.88.

And to be quite honest, that was all stuff I was happy to part with.  I kept some things he grew out of that I love and stuff that still fits, so it was only like maybe 1/3 of what I had for him last summer (yeah overconsumption I know).

Several things sold for MORE than what I paid new.  CRAZY.

I love ebay, despite the stupid people who ask me stupid questions.  ;)

  • Holyshit!  That's awesome.  I have BINS of clothes that I need to list.  I just can't seem to get motivated to take the pictures, list them, etc.  But damn, this might have done it for me.  It would be nice to have an extra $500+ for Vegas.  Momma needs a new pair of shoes!  :)
  • That's awesome! I should totally considering doing that, if #2 isn't another girl.

  • After reading this, I will never scoff at your shopaholic tendencies for your son againWink Holyshit is right!!! You clearly know what you're buying if the resale value on Ebay was that good. Good job!

  • That was for 67 auctions.  Some things were really worthless (IMO), but still sold for between $5-10.  And then other things sold in the $30-$50 range (these were typically Gymboree and J&J sets.  A few Gap sets).

And Jodi, DO IT.  MH got all over my ass when he saw our guest room full of bins, so I made myself go through the summer stuff from last year and I am SO glad I did.  I may list more; even though a lot of it still fits.  I like a lot that's out now so it seems silly to hold on to stuff... we'll see though!

  • Yowzers! You did good.

  • I should also add - some of this stuff went for MORE than I paid.

    Insanity.

Ooops that's in the OP.  I still can't believe it though.  I've never really been all that motivated with resale, so I feel drunk on resale money.  LOL!

  • Wow!  I can't believe used outfits go for $30-50!  I need to get better at removing stains so DDs clothes might actually be worth something.  I'm curious, how long did it take to list 67 auctions?
  • Holy shitballs.

    That is insane.

I am glad to see you are still alive.  The nest needs you girl.  Bad.

  • And I just checked - two J&J sets went for $70 and $83 respectively (um OMG - that is DEF more than I paid - like by a LOT).

I listed everything last thursday and it took awhile.  I took all the pictures first and dealt with that - towards the middle of it all, I figured out it made sense to separate things by size since ebay requires a category so I did that with the pictures which made it go SO much quicker.  Anyway, it took about 1.5 hours for the first half and about the same for the second half.

It was tedious, but worth it I think!

  • E - when you say sets, do you mean you buy the whole line and sell the line or do you have a couple of pieces (like pants and shirt) from a set and sell that together??

I was at Gymbo last month and they had almost one entire line left in Maddie's size at 60% off. I debated buying the whole line as M would've worn most of it, but some I would've kept the tags on. My thought was I could resell the whole line.

    Curious what you did....?

  • I sold a pair of USED See Kai Run shoes that I paid $30 for (with free shipping) and I got $27 and $6 shipping for them.  Insanity!  I felt so bad that I threw an additional (a bit more beat up so not something I would sell) pair of SKR sandals in with the other ones.  I felt like I was screwin' the person since they paid almost full price for used shoes!

Usually the outfits/sets sold in 2-3 pc lots.  I had 2 that were 5 or 6 pc, but they were gymboree lots that I didn't think would sell for much (but they did - $50 for one that I thought would go for $20).  The 2-3 pc lots were typically 2 shirts, one bottom (either pants or shorts) that matched to make an outfit (all from the same line if from J&J, Gymbo or Gap).

  • Can you give me an ebay tutorial? :)  Like  how you decided how much to put in each auction and how to describe it?  I always think I should ebay Lila's stuff, but then I get lazy and give it away instead.

Oh ***, I know what I'm listing next. I have like 7-8 pairs of SKRs that have been worn maybe twice.  LOL.  Definitely next on my list!

$1000 for 3 hours work?  Totally worth it!

  • Good god lady.  And my dh thought I had a shopping problem.  Congrats on the big sale!

Dude, MH is never questioning my addiction to J&J ever again.  Even though he is now maniacal about me finding more stuff to sell.  I'll keep the fact that that was only 1/3 to myself.  Tee hee.

This sounds like my dh.  He was so happy to hear that my due date is before the end of the year because a) it will be a tax write-off and b) my deductible has been met for the year already

  • Considering the fact that I have someone that wants to buy DD's knot dress I won off of Matilda Jane's blog for $75, I'm not surprised.  I really need to dig out some stuff.  I just know I could make some money.
  • Holy crap!  That's awesome!

I have to admit I thought this was going to be a BFP announcement.  :)  A subject like that + a star and that many responses at this time of day made me think you were knocked up.

That was my first thought, too, particularly b/c eclaires, my dear, you haven't been around nearly enough lately! Glad to see you making a comeback!

thou shall NOT speak of eclaires and a BFP in the same sentence!  ;)

We're putting off TTC until next summer.  I'm in my SIL's wedding in October and then in my brother's wedding next June.  I've done the pregnant BM thing and it blew hard.  So we decided to wait... we're young(ish) and we're hoping to be moving soon, so it makes sense.

I will say though that this current crop of new nestie babies is making my ovaries hurt.  That and the fact that my kiddo is no longer a baby.  He's a big boy, in a big boy bed... AHHHH.  So not ready for him to grow up.
