Good luck! I had my tonsils out at age 23. I found that cool things felt best, but anything soft will be good. I didn't eat a lot of dairy for a couple days, because it made my pflem thick and irritated my throat, but it was GREAT after the first day or two. Foods that are good for the first week or two are: yogurt, mashed sweet potatoes (cooled off), applesauce, mac & cheese, pudding, jello (not red, because it can be mistaken for blood) etc.
I had my tonsils out when I was four. The only thing I remember was my father taking time off work (a never in our family) to bring me an In N Out strawberry milkshake. Sorry. Not that you care. It's a rare sweet memory from my childhood.
Lots of fresh fruit and yogurt smoothies, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, jello, flan, yogurt. Just nothing too acidic or that you feel would be scratchy on your throat.
