My house is the same. The kitchen, bathrooms etc. are clean. But any area where the kids have touched are always messy. I am constantly picking up toys, clothes, cups, loveys. On most days i wait until the end of the day to pick up their stuff. They are getting a little better at picking up after themselves, but still it is a mess. Before we get ready for bed the whole family does a clean up.
My house is neat while DD is napping. As soon as she wakes up, within 30 minutes it's as if I did nothing. My house is always clean, just cluttered with toys!
Nope, not unless we are having company. I try to keep my dining room as my "clean" room and the toys get put away every night at bedtime, but neat? No, not usually.

Sometimes it is, but DS is pretty good about keeping toys in his room. Although, if the whole house is tidy and clean, that means that we have lots of dirty laundry and we are eating sandwiches for dinner. I can only do so much with DS messing things up and hanging off of me!

I could have written your response. they really are tornadoes! I have better luck keeping it neat when the weather is nice and we spend majority of our day outside. ?but now when the weather is cold/crappy--forget it...it's a mess, despite all my efforts.
I did get some of those huge canvas buckets from PBK and have them all over S's play area so I can just pick up toys and literally throw them in there for a fast cleanup! LOL?

No, almost never. I did move all of his toys upstairs to his playroom about a year ago...so that has helped our living space tremendously! However, there's almost always socks or other articles of clothing that he's stripped off and thrown on the floor downstairs. It's a never ending cleanup process. It's usually only tidy first thing in the morning, during his naptime and after he goes to bed. I'm constantly picking up after him and trying to teach him to pick up after himself.
I'm glad I'm not alone. My mom thinks as a SAHM, my house should be immaculate at all times because she could do it. But I don't remember her playing with us when we were little either...

Re: SAHMs w/ at least one toddler/preschooler
If it's neat, that means it's probably not clean, and vice versa
I only have time for one or the other!
My house is very clean!
When ds spends the night at his grandparents, that is.
