Babies on the Brain

Insurance ?

I was just going through our insurance pamphlet and have a couple questions.

We have BCBS and it is both DH and I on the plan.  It is broken into single, two-person, and family.  Since it is just the both of us that puts us into the two-person category.  My question is how does that work for maternity?  Will we have to pay the two-person deductible and max out of pocket or would that automatically bump us up to the family?  I can't remeber what the insurance lady said and with it being 7pm here I have to wait until tomorrow to call her.  Just thought I would get your input on it.   tia

Re: Insurance ?

  • Do yourself a favor and call the insurance company. ?Ask them every question you can think of. ?If there's something that's very unclear in your pamphlet, ask them to send an explanation to you in writing.

    Depends on your plan.
    This.  Kdodge knows all.
  • No, you pay the single+1. After baby is born, you go into family. We have BCBS and that's how it works for us, at least. What happens if god forbid the baby's stillborn? You wouldn't pay for a child that isn't *born* yet, KWIM?
  • Thanks ladies!
