Every now and again he gets on a kick about how "messy" the house is. We have 2 children, it is going to get messy once and a while. He went upstairs to help DS with his bath, and starts stomping around, picking up books and huffs about "I don't know why we even have a bookshelf." DS didn't nap today and instead spent "quiet time" upstairs looking at books and pulling them off the shelves. Yeah, a 3 year old is probably not going to put them back. I should have said, "Yeah, I don't know why you even have a dresser." Because at this moment, he has mounds of clothes heaped on top of it, instead of put in the dirty laundry, or folded where they go. Ok, vent over.?
Re: It makes me LIVID when DH says this
I'm with you, I hate that too. I also hate having a messy house. I also hate spending most of the day cleaning (instead of playing with my kids) JUST to have it all messed up again in a matter of minutes.
So, I'm with you. Having 2 children and a clean house is nearly impossible.
And, yes, I wonder why we have a dresser too, since all of the washed and folded clothes (by me) just sit where I've left them. Never, ever to be put away. Very annoying.
Me with my littlest.
Just one little tiny comment/suggestion: Your 3-yr.-old can put his own books up by himself if he's taught to do it and expected to. Our 2.8 yr. old does. He stacks them on the shelves -- we don't expect him to stand them up with the spines facing out.
I understand about your DH's comment, though. It's frustrating to hear that. My DH gets that way about kids' toys and doesn't seem to "see" the pile of clothes (that I trip on regularly) on the floor on his side of the bed.
