I have so many family members (a few generations back) named Minnie. Did the Mouse ruin this name? I've never met a Minnie IRL, but I adore Minnie Driver.?
Agreed. She would say "Minnie - like the mouse" for the rest of her life. If it were me, I would try to come up with a similar or derived name to honor the family name without going full on with Minnie. Like Min. Or put it as a middle name maybe...

I definitely think they ruined this and Mickey. There are many more in Britain and Ireland, where ppl's thoughts do not go directly to Disney. I actually like Mick a lot as a nn for Michael, but I hate Mickey b/c of Mickey Mouse.
It's the first thing that came to mind for me. Sorry.
Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/9/11 - 34:24 - 1st race evah!
Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG
Walk the Talk 5K - 5/18/11 - 31:12 PR
Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/14/12 - 1st race of the year, 32:45
I don't think the mouse thing applies as much now. There are so many more cartoons out there than there used to be that not only are the classic Disney characters less known by younger kids, but I don't think they put it all together b/c there are so many different characters.
Also I have a friend called Mickey (Michael) and never thought twice about the mouse.
Re: Minnie
I agree. I actually really like the name!?

Minnie Driver's real name is Amelia which I love but Minnie? Not so much.
