First, know that soy milk costs almost twice as much as cow's milk. I know you are dealing with some financial issues, and an extra $2 or $3 per gallon can add up really fast.
If it's a must due to a cow's milk allergy or something... I prefer 8th continent light vanilla soymilk for myself. (The "light" version probably wouldn't be appropriate for a baby who would otherwise be on whole milk.) I like the way it sweetens up my cereal, but I'm not really a fan of just drinking it out of the glass.
It's hard to find, though, so I sometimes settle for Silk light vanilla.
Really, I try to use it sparingly because of the added expense. Pregnancy seems to bring out some serious lactose intolerance in me, though, so it's usually soymilk or no milk. (I drank a lot of calcium-fortified OJ with DS to get enough calcium for him.)
Mmm, that makes sense. I wasn't sure on the price difference. He doesn't have a proven allergy, so I think we'll just give whole milk another try, and do things MUCH more gradually than we did last time to see if he has a better time of it. (He also had allergies and illness come up at the same time so it was really hard to tell exactly what was going on). Thanks!
I'm using Silk Very Vanilla because I think cow's milk made his eczema worse. The Very Vanilla is higher in fat/calories so that's why I picked that. He barely drinks it anyway b/c he's still BFing, but I was thrilled to see him drink a 2- 3 oz. in a sippy this morning.

Silk organic unsweetened. Has very few ingredients and I'm sensitive to sugar added to the flavored and sweetened ones. It took a little getting used to (like drinking 3-4 times), but now I LOVE it!! DH loves it too.
Are there things I shoud look out for...Are you familiar with the controversy about the possible estrogenic effects of soy? If not, you might want to read up and see if you believe it is of concern in your family or not.

This.
If you buy it, definitely try to go with a brand that's at least non-GMO:)
