What is considered "officially" TTC?

At first I didn't consider the first 8 months as TTC.  But after a while on the boards, I realized that most people still consider it TTC even if you're not completely informed on the process.  So I added the 8 months back in.

But why does it even matter?  TTC 12+ seems to think I did it so I can run to an RE and get Clomid ASAP.  Well I did get an RE referral months ago, but I haven't gone, nor do I plan on going any time soon.

Is it still fair to say I lied?  I don't think so.

I don't give a crap what you do with your doctors.  It's just funny that it changed about the same the board name changed.

pmarie - please get your facts straight before you make accusations like that. I have known bbjoys on this board for at least 5 months and her numbers have progressed from 14 to 19.

For the love of god.  TTC12 is a group of regulars.  There are more than a few new posters over there that have been welcomed with open arms.  Stop your f'ing whining about how mean the board is and stay away if you don't like it.  IT IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE.

I personally think that an effort to have sex when one thinks one might be ovulating (regardless of whether or not one actually knows via monitoring, charting, etc or just guesses cd14 or uses an online calculator) is ttc.

I don't think unprotected sex = ttc.  I think there needs to be an intention behind it.

In other words, I don't think stupid teenagers forgoing the condom in the backseat on prom night are ttc.  I do think a couple that has been together awhile and conciously throws out bc because they are interested in procreating are ttc.

I would tell me doc if I'd been having regular unprotected sex for some time that didn't result in pregnancy, but if I just randomly had sex whenever I wanted with no regularity, even if it was unprotected, I wouldn't count that as ttc. 

An average couple will get pregnant within a year of well-timed unprotected sex.  If that were the case, with or without charting/so on, I would count it.  I wouldn't count it if we only had sex three or four times over a 2 month period and didn't get knocked up.

JMO.

I am so sick of this drama.  GP has had enough drama lately.  I apologize to those that are sick of it and for dragging it out with this latest topic.

Not that I need to prove myself, but thanks to those that backed up my numbers.  I knew some of you would remember.  I did not change my numbers so I could run to an RE, and I also didn't do it to fit in when TTC 6+ became 12+.  My cycle count has been with the first 8 cycles included for a while now, way before the board name changed.

To the 12+ people, I'm sorry if my story made it seem like I was lying.  But I wasn't.  I usually don't get so involved with drama like this, but being called a liar when I knew in fact that I didn't lie about anything really bugged me.  Fine, if I started out on the boards without the first 8 months included, I should have just left it.  But seeing as how many people consider uninformed trying still TTC, I used my judgement and added them back in.  That's all.  No dishonesty, no trying to fit in, and no lying to get an RE referral.

There, we can stop the drama now.

That would describe the first part of our TTC journey pretty accurately.  I stopped taking BCPs because we felt ready to have a baby, and we wanted to see if we could get pregnant without worrying about charting, OPKs, fertility monitors, etc.  Well, it didn't happen, so we started doing all the other stuff 8 months later. 

I would tell me doc if I'd been having regular unprotected sex for some time that didn't result in pregnancy.

That's why I got an RE referral.  Even though we didn't use all those TTC tools at first, we were still having unprotected sex, with the intention of making a baby.  Apparently my OB agreed that those first few months of TTC were still considered TTC, so she gave me an RE referral.

Yes, I did.  And I also apologized that it turned into another dramafest.  I know people are sick of the drama, as am I.

Actually - one of the 12+ers last week said anyone was welcome on their board, regardless of how long they have been TTC, as long as they weren't idiots.  I have posted there a couple of times and nobody has told me to GTFO (well, yet  ) 

I totally agree that bbjoys has had her sig at the higher count since I first joined as well.  I remember seeing it and think about her often.

Besides.. you go to the RE when you, your doctor and the RE are OK with it. Not when a message board says it's OK.

I don't know what you posted over there, BBJ, but you've always been friendly here, so I suspect you'll always be welcome here.
