Make your baby wipes recipe

The crafty friend I mentioned in my previous post also sent me a cannister of homemade babywipes and the recipe for it.  She swears they work just as well as the store bought ones...I thought it was worth sharing!

The ones she gave me are in a container like this:

Ingredients:  1 regular roll of paper towels without ink on them, 1.5 cups water, 1.5 tablespoons of baby wash, 1.5 tablespoons baby oil.  If you use a double large paper towel roll, just double the measurements.

Steps:  1) Cut paper towel roll in half. 2) Put water, baby wash, and baby oil in container and mix.  3) Insert paper towel roll and allow to soak into bottom half.  Flip container until remainder of roll is saturated.  4) Remove cardboard insert (and you can use the roll starting from the center!).  Lasts about two weeks.

  • If you don't mind adding a little to your laundry, spend $10 on a 3 yards of flannel at the fabric store, cut them into 8"x8" squares, sew the edges so they don't fray, and soak in the same solution as above. ?Now you have a lifetime's supply of wipes for $10!

It's super easy. ?Stitch around the edge with a zig zag and you're all set. ?8x8 will fit in a wipes case. ?I prefer a wipes solution without mineral oil, try:

    3/4 cup water

    1/4 cup aloe vera juice

    3 drops tea tree oil

    1 drop lavender oil

    ?

Fresh, clean, and natural! ?You'll need at least 30 to get you through laundry days, but a couple of yards of flannel will do ya easy.?

  • I've been using this recipe for making my own baby wipes for a couple years now.  The only problem I've encountered is that if they don't get used up quick enough then tend to get musty smelling.  Just an FYI.
