I've been thinking about this name since my sister cracked a joke about how the kid should named after her Godmother. My sister's middle name is Beth.
Thoughts? Opinions?
I like Bethany a lot! The only reason it didn't make the final cut for us was that it didn't sound right with our last name. It's a really pretty name, though.
I really like Bethany!! It is not on our list however because I don't really care for the nickname Beth and I'm sure she would end up being called that at some point.
I really like it. It was on our list too. Beautiful, classic and not common. I like Beth as a nn. If you don't, I wouldn't worry about it. I know a Bethany and I've never heard anyone call her Beth.
It also reminds me of a church and I think it is very plain. I know a bethany and she is very churchy too, and people call her beth all the time.
What is that supposed to mean? How can you be "very churchy"? Do you mean she's a very strong Christian? I'm not sure how being "churchy" is a bad thing... Are teachers very "schooly"??
My cousin's DD name is Bethany and they named her after their church. Its a nice enough name, but it is a negative connotation name for me. There was a girl down the street from me growing up that was downright mean to everyone and her name was Bethany.
ETA: Oddly enough she was named after the Bethany church in Baton Rouge, mentioned above. Small world.
My sister's name is Bethany and I have always thought it was a unique, cool name. Also, very pretty.
My sister is not "churchy" at all and I really have never had this association with the name.
I really love it!
Oh, and she is very rarely called "Beth" except for a few close friends who use it dotingly. I have personally always called her by the full name of Bethany.
