If you fail/barely pass your 3 hour glucose test...

what next? You see...my OB sent me super early (Im talking 5, maybe 6 weeks pregnant) for my 1 hour test since I have diabetic members in my family. Well...that one was a fail so she had me do the 3 hour test shortly afterwards and said she didnt like how one of the numbers came back and would send me again when Im about 28 weeks or so.

Now stupid me, disgusted at the notion of having to go through this all over again...didnt bother to ask my OB if this means another 1 hour test has to be retaken or if it means I have to take a 3 hour test instead. If any of you have been in this situation, please let me know what you had to go through. Thanks!

There are several GD ladies on the High Risk Pregnancy board.  I'm sure they range from watching their diet to the full on having to take insulin.  You might want to post this over there to find out the ranges that they had when they took their 3 hr test.  They may have some good insight into the numbers.  That board also has several ladies with diabetes (not GD) who would know a lot about the tests.

I failed my 3 hour with my second pregnancy.  They just send you to a nutritional-diabetes class.  Tell you to eat less more often and what to eat to keep numbers normal.  Possibly have you test you blood glucose after every meal.  It is really not that bad.

i went for the 1hr GD test around 8-9wks pg. b/c i had GD last pregnancy and b/c it runs in myfamily.  however i passed the 1hr at that time, i'll take the 1hr again in about 2wks.  i have a feeling i'm going to fail the 1hr this time though b/c i've been testing myself an hour after i eat carbs and my numbers are higher than they're supposed to be.

I was tested early because of the same reason.  I failed the 1 hour, and my OB sent me to do the 3 hour right after.  I only just did the test a few weeks ago because I was so sick with m/s and didnt want to have to redo the test if I puked!  I failed the 3 hour and am lucky to only be on a restricted calorie diet. I am obese anyways, so this will help me gain only as much weight as the baby needs me to, and not much more.
