Dreft vs. All free and clear

I decided to go with the all free and clear detergent.  I figured better price and it seems to be the same.  What do you ladies think/plan on using?

Re: Dreft vs. All free and clear

  • I use Tide free and clear.

I hate the smell of Dreft, it make my stomach turn.

  • We're using the same for her clothes. Dreft is a waste of money. Any detergents that say the word Baby on them are.
  • we use a free and clear for ALL of our laundry. Much easier and cheaper!

(plus, dreft has dyes and perfumes. some babies will react to that)

  • same here... dreft i think puts stuff in to smell babyish...... so far i like free and clear
  • I already use All free and clear for all of our laundy b/c DH has horrible allergies to all kinds of laundry detergent/scents.  It has worked well for us.  And yes, much cheaper!
  • i bought the All Free and Clear as well - better price, no dyes/perfumes and i've heard lots of others using it as well instead of expensive dreft
  • All Free and Clear

I've been using it for DH's and my clothes for years...no need to change it up now! (FWIW, DH has horrible allergies and has no issues with this detergent.)

  • All Free and Clear, it is what I use on our clothes so it will make it that much easier.
  • I have a bottle of Dreft that I've used to wash everything up to this point, but DH and I went to the store the other day and I was going to get Tide Free so that I would be able to wash all the baby stuff along with ours and not have to do special loads for the baby.  His opinion was that there will be enough baby stuff (what with clothes, towels, diaper cloths, etc.) that we'll have to do separate loads for the baby anyway, so we should stick with the Dreft.

I don't think it really matters, but the Dreft smells like a baby, so I like it!

  • I think Dreft is a waste of money. We're using Purex Free & Clear.

  • We use tide free because DD has alergies to all other detergents.  She broke out in a terrible rash when we used dreft.
  • My Dr. said that the free and clear is better because dreft has perfume and dyes in it. So  i am using the free and clear
  • We are using Tide Free and Clear.  I figured that it was easier to just switch DH and myself over to using this detergent as opposed to buying one detergent for us and one for the baby.  I still keep our laundry and the baby's laundry separate, but at least we can all use the same detergent!
  • Method clear for the baby. Method blue for me and H. I like the smeall of laundered clothes.
  • We used All F&C when DS was little, he never had any problems.  IMO Dreft is just to rip off new parents.  If you buy it b/c you like the scent then fine, but it's definitely not needed for most babies like it's marketed.

  • When DS was newborn, I used Dreft, but he had an allergic reaction to it.  The pedi recommended All free and clear. That worked the best for us.
  • My pediatrician's office actually recommends using All Free and Clear over Dreft!
  • All Free & Clear is what I will use...my pediatrician said that is best...Dreft is too expensive, not worth it, not necessary.

  • I have sensitive skin and use the All Free & Clear for all our stuff anyway (except for some of our dark clothes, which my mom has talked me into using a "dark clothes" detergent on to neutralize chlorine)
  • We'll go the free and clear route. Dreft is just too expensive.
